Mediumship and Beyond

My advanced development circle are meeting up with my beginners circle this week.  On Tuesday they are having a fun night.

A fun night with me consists of all different methods of reading for each other.  Colours, angel cards and tarot, stones and ribbons, will all be used.  As the new and the old have not yet met, it means they will be reading for ‘new’ people for a change. This is a big step on the way of development for them all.

This should encourage them to venture forth into the open circles and see exactly what they can do. I am looking forward to that.

I know there are some of the advanced group who wish to develop in other areas too.  This will be exciting for all the group.

Next spring there will be just the one circle for all developers.  There will not be a new one for complete beginners until September 2012.

In the Sheffield Star this Monday evening, 7th November, there was a column which incensed me.  It was all about a woman objecting to mediums. Why was she given the column space?

The mediums she objected to, were recently at an event at Dronfield Centre.  This event was organised by the Mayor’s office to raise funds for charity. So far so good!

The mediums raised over £250. I know the charitable cause was grateful. Dronfield was grateful.  There was of course a ‘Christian Woman’,  who was far from grateful. She was angry.

Quoting her bible, she said the mediums were tricking themselves and were really working with the devil, not spirits of loved ones.   Is she saying  the devil is happy to raise money for charity!  She seems to know the devil better than any Spiritualists  I know.  Spiritualists don’t believe in such a thing as a devil, or in hell.  Apart from the ones on Earth that is. We make our own hell.

If this woman is really a Christian, shouldn’t she be behaving in a Christian manner.  Demanding that the Mayor, in future, not allow such events with mediums is hardly being Christian. Who does she think she is?

Would this person like to have a go at the Mormon, Judaism, Scientology and Islamic faiths too.  Because I am sure she doesn’t agree with them also. Or is it just that mediums and Spiritualism are easy game.  We are a registered religion. We have rights too. And we are charitable and caring people.  Ask any one of us, and no one will refuse to help a charity if they are able.

I say to her: Be a Christian and Live and Let Live for God’s sake. We are all his children.

My latest development and awareness class for beginners, is moving along nicely. The students are making good progress.  I love it when novices first start to realise that they are able to give a message. When they all start development together they encourage each other and the circle is warm and nurturing. Thats what we have here.

They are going to begin using colour next. This will include reading colour in the form of ribbon reading. For some, this will be the catalyst.  For others, there will be another.

The more advanced group is also progressing nicely. They are getting more professional in the way they give their messages. They are also getting more confident. They need the confidence. They also need the courage to stand up, but they are finding it easier amongst the warm and friendly group.

Some of the advanced group are nearly ready to stand on the platform. Until then they should work in open circles to get practice outside the groups warm atmosphere. It is quite different when they first stand up and work in public.

Yesterday evening, was the first of my new advanced circles for development, at Whitham Road Church in Sheffield. It was well attended with friends old and new.

The group, as always, is a nice bunch of people.  They enjoyed the evening and threw themselves into it with enthusiasm.   We had a simple start, with meditation and psychometry, but we will begin the hard work next time.

In future weeks I will be teaching colour readings. This will involve ribbons and stones.  As well as sand reading, feathers etc.

There will also be the opportunity to try altered states.  For most of my group this will be a new aspect of development.  Table tapping will also be experimented with.

Saturday’s Psychic Fair at Whitham Road Church in Sheffield was a great success.  And I wish to thank everyone who gave their day voluntarily for spirit and the church.  Mediums, psychics, readers, the girls on the door and in the kitchen.  Not forgetting the Reiki ladies and the Spiritual readers. Without whom none of this would have happened.

At first we thought that the gorgeous weather would put off people who might prefer to sunbathe. Or go away for the weekend.  But we were wrong.  Spirit sent us lots of people who were completely new to spiritualism, church and psychic. As well as lots of others who like to come regularly to our events.

It seems that as some went for a walk in the sunshine they spotted the banner outside our church and decided to pop in.  This also gave them an opportunity to find out what we are all about and ask many questions about the ism and the chance to develop their own psychic gifts.

The Daily Mail has been running articles which tell of complaints about one of Sally Morgans shows in Ireland.

They say that she was receiving prompts during the show, and a whole couple of rows of audience are accusing her of fraud. This may have repercussions for the whole movement.

I know many people who have been to some of her roadshows, and they found her lacking………

It is a sad fact that we all get tarred by the same brush. Ms Morgan has very well edited tv shows, but you cannot edit live shows. She boasts of always being correct and of giving outstanding evidence. You have to put your money where your mouth is.

Mediums cannot always deliver the goods. As I have written many times on this blog, we cannot deliver on cue. This is not an exact science. Boasting puts our whole ethos in danger.

Mediums should be humble and honest. We are trying to help those who are saddened and bereaved. We are not here to make a small fortune or brag about our efforts.  What happened to modesty Ms Morgan?

If you thought that table phenomena was dead then you are wrong. It is definitely alive and floating as I write.  In fact, at the psychic fair at Attercliffe Spiritulaist Church in Sheffield,last weekend there was a display of it.

Whilst mediums and psychics were giving readings in the main hall, visitors were invited into the room at the back, where the table phenomena was displayed.

In the past I spent many an evening with the mediums there, working at the table. Getting messages and being given a wonderful display of what the table could do.

The visitors this week enjoyed the spectacle. I had feedback from some of them who had not witnessed it  before. They were thrilled.

Of course, it has to be remembered, that unless there is a ‘physical medium’ in control of the table, it is only working on the sitter’s psychic energy. Not Spirit.

Psychic energy is surprisingly strong and comes from us all. Together in a confined space it can be utilised to move the table.

For spirit to work the table there has to be a medium who has developed physical mediumship to a good extent. Then the medium will produce ectoplasm which spirit can use to control the table. That way the messages you get from it will be from spirit.

If you get the chance to witness it, have a go and enjoy.

After 30  years developing my gift you might be forgiven for thinking that I had done enough.  Or that I was developed enough.  Or maybe, that I was by now satisfied, with my mediumship.

Not in the slightest. I will carry on developing and improving my mediumship until my time here is done. Then I will carry on my development in the spirit world.

I love developing my gifts. I also love passing on my knowledge to others so that they may develop to their very best.  It is quite hard work sometimes but worth every moment.

Once again I have been with my sister and a friend, to a weekend medium’s seminar. We had a wonderful time with 40 other like minded people. All of whom were at differing levels of their development.

Our tutors were excellent mediums, who gave us new food for thought and put us through the paces of exercises, which were aimed at making our mediumship more lively.  What fun we had.

Being with a large group, all of whom are very spiritual people, can be very emotional. And it was at times.  At other times it was hard work and yet others amusing.  We travelled the whole gamut.

It was more interesting because we were not all at the same level. Some of the group were absolute beginners. They enjoyed it as much as the rest. I cannot recommend going on such courses, enough. Please do try it.  But make sure you know the experience and integrity of your tutors. It is so important. A bad experience with a clueless tutor can put you off forever.

There was yet another programme this week on English TV about mediums and Spiritualism. As usual it was a very cynical view of us.  They seem to ignore the fact that we are part of a recognised religion.

I feel very strongly about this. So much so that I have sent in a complaint about it. As have many others. If you feel as strongly about it then please send in a complaint too.

The studio was full of cynics and the only mediums included were not even given a place in the studio. They were left to argue their cause via a video link. Hardly fair to begin with. But exactly what we have come to expect.

The main thing the BBC wanted to argue about was the fact that mediums often charge a fee for their services.  Why not? Mediums work hard for their churches. Mediums have to live and pay petrol money out to travel from church to church. They have to have their hair done and wear decent clothes.  Money doesn’t come from fresh air.

The medium charges for their time and for the hard work they put into it.  Mediums also spend years attending courses to develop our skills.   None of these are free.  I personally have spent nearly 30 years developing.  Going across the country to find good tutors to help me.

Yes we charge for some of our work, much the same as vicars, who get actual salaries.  Plumbers get paid for their time and skills. What is wrong with mediums recouping a small amount towards the cost of  long lasting training? Our training lasts far longer than a vicars and we don’t get wages whilst we do it.

As for our RELIGION – don’t get me started!  Spiritualism is a registered religion. Just the same as Catholicism. Just the same as Baptists.  Just the same as Islam.  Just the same as the Jewish faith.  Just the same as ‘Scientology’. We have divine services too. We have God in our churches. Why should we have to put up with this continual bias against us.

As for the BBC, they are supposed to be unbiased and fair. I see no evidence of this. Isn’t  it the ‘fairness’ that we pay our TV license for!
