We all know songs which move us. They seem to be spiritual sometimes. Or at least spiritually inspired.  I read that Roy Orbison’s recording of  ‘Crying’, made Robin Gibb cry whilst he was in his last coma. RIP Robin.
It moves me and always has.  For the uninitiated, here are the words. Try the recording if you can.
I was alright for a while
I could smile for a while
But I saw you last night
You held my hand so tight
As you stopped to say hello
You wished me well
You couldn’t tell
That I’d been crying over you
Crying over you and you said, “So long”
And left me standing all alone
Alone and crying, crying, crying, crying
It’s hard to understand
That the touch of your hand
Can start me crying
I thought that I was over you
But it’s true, oh, so true
I love you even more than I did before
But, darling, what can I do?
You don’t love me
And I’ll always beCrying over you, crying over you
Yes, now, now that you’re gone
And from this moment on
I’ll be crying, crying, crying, crying
Crying, crying, crying, crying, crying
You left me crying, crying, crying
Crying, crying, crying alone and crying

We could become quite satisfied with ourselves

because we are sitting in meditation and are endeavoring to practice the spiritual path.

Such satisfaction with ourselves is not the same as contentment.

Contentment is necessary, self-satisfaction is detrimental.

To be content has to include knowing we are in the right place at the right time to facilitate our own growth.

But to be self-satisfied means that we no longer realize the need for growth.

All these aspects are important parts of our commitment and makes us into one whole being with a one-pointed direction.

Whilst you are spending a lot of time developing your mediumship, you may notice quite a few changes in yourself.  This may be apparent to others or just to yourself at first.

Mainly you will tend to become a little calmer and more chilled out.  You have to learn to be patient, so this helps chill you.  Things don’t happen over night.

Development is not meant to make you more religious, but you may find you have a little more reverence when sitting in church or when you are talking about spirit. Spirit deserve your respect and reverence.

You will find yourself having great respect for your spirit guides. This is as it should be. But you will find your guides also have respect for you.  This mutual respect makes for a good working relationship. Trust comes into it of course.

You may also find you are starting to become to be a good listener. This is really important when you are talking to those who are in  mourning.  The bereaved often like to talk a lot after a reading.

What must not change is your ego. Sometimes, during development,  the ego can take over, NOT GOOD AT ALL!  The ego should be left behind. Becoming a medium does not make your a wonderful person. It is the way you use your gifts and how you treat people and help them, that make you wonderful.

Enjoy your development and enjoy the changes which come along.

Even our personal virtues,

such as patience

and our sense of ethics,

are all developed in

dependence upon others.

Whenever I meet someone

I try to look for their positive qualities

which immediately gives me a feeling of

connectedness with them.

Sometimes one creates a dynamic impression by saying something,
and sometimes one creates as significant an impression by remaining silent.

Through violence, you may ‘solve’ one problem, but you sow the seeds for another.

One has to try to develop one’s inner feelings, which can be done simply by training one’s mind.
This is a priceless human asset and one you don’t have to pay income tax on!

First one must change.
I first watch myself, check myself, then expect changes from others.

Love and compassion are necessities, not luxuries.
Without them, humanity cannot survive.

I myself feel, and also tell other Buddhists that the question of Nirvana will come later.
There is not much hurry.
If in day to day life you lead a good life, honesty, with love,
with compassion, with less selfishness,
then automatically it will lead to Nirvana.

It is difficult to know what the public expect of mediums at times. But we are just normal people. The only thing that sets us apart, in any way,  is our gift of communication with the spirit world.

Cut us and we bleed. Call us names and we are saddened. When we are ill we need love and support.  When times are hard we need compassion and understanding. We are not, in any way, perfect. We are human.

There are those in churches who revere mediums. But also,  there are those in churches who are very jealous of the gifts they have. This often causes trouble and stress.

A medium does a job. A job which helps people to understand that there truly is life after death of the body.  So, not a job that everyone can do. But then, not everyone can be a doctor or a poet.  But yet a job which deserves merit.

Like all work, sometimes the job is easier than at others.  It can be very emotionally draining when you are giving a reading to a person who is grieving a loved one.  At other times it is so rewarding, when you have proved life after death, it can be very elating.

Whatever your job or your gifts,  they are God given. Make the most of them, for who knows how long we can have the pleasure.  Enjoy. You are worthy!

Your time is limited

Don’t waste it living someone else’s life

Don’t be trapped by dogma

which is living with the results of other people’s thinking

Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice

And most importantly

Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition

They somehow already know what you truly want to become.

Everything else is secondary.

Go Forward With Courage

When you are in doubt, be still, and wait;

when doubt no longer exists for you,

then go forward with courage.

So long as mists envelop you, be still;

be still until the sunlight pours through and dispels the mists

as it surely will.

Then act with courage.
