I don’t know why, but some people think that a flower reader is a fortune teller. In my experience this is not so. And, really no one can tell your fortune as such.  What is meant by fortune is really future.

No one can tell you the future. I am always saying this.  We are not meant to know it. If we knew our future it would change the way we live our life.  So it would be useless to us in the grand scheme of things.

We might think it would be good to know our future. But that would take a lot of the fun out of it too.  Would you really want to know your future warts and all?  Because you cannot have it all one way.  Would you really want to know you were going to be in an accident, or that you were going to get robbed. Would you really want to know if you were going to suffer?

I do not think so.  You have to take the rough with the smooth. We cannot have it all our own way. That is just not how life is.

As for flower reading, I like to practice it. I use it sometimes when giving mediumship. It adds another dimension to the reading. But not fortune telling.

Basically, fortune telling was what the gypsies used to do. Most psychics can tell you about today but not your fortune as such. Mediums can get a link with your spirit loved ones and they CAN tell you when things are going to pan out for you. They can also advice you when you need to make changes.

Trust your spirit loved ones and the medium who acts as go between. They will serve you well. Psychics and fortune tellers – not so good!

Yes, there is a lot of it about.  Still there are psychics who believe they are mediums and don’t even know the difference. This is beyond belief. They have surely never sat for development with an experienced medium tutor.

Or, an even worse scenario, they have sat but not taken any notice of the teacher, thinking they themselves know better.  And yes, a good teacher can tell which you are using, psychic or mediumship. They know if you are linked to spirit, even when you do not.

I know how it goes. I have seen it all too often. They join a development circle and then decide they are too good for it and already know it all.  The trouble is they then get on the platform and make a mess of it.  They don’t produce the life after death proof which is the medium’s paramount job on the platform.  They cannot, they haven’t got a mediums gift.

Remember, not all those who sit for development are mediumistic. Yes we are all psychic and can develop our psychic ability, but it does not make a medium.  A medium is born with the gift. They may take time to know it, but when they develop it soon shows.

The same goes with trance. Some are convinced they have it, when they do not. They often give themselves away by opening their eyes whilst in a so called trance and having a normal conversation with people. What a crock!  You cannot carry on in trance with your eyes fully open. Once you open your eyes your conscious state alters again. Even if you have been in trance, the act of opening your eyes brings you out of it.

The ones who rely on funny voices and a touch of gurning are the worst, but quite the funniest to watch. (Oh what fools the public think spiritualists are)

I witnessed the great Gordon Higginson in trance on many occasions. Never did he open his eyes whilst in trance. His guides and communicators would change during the sitting but he never opened his eyes. He brought forth many spirit communicators who gave proof of survival. What a true gem to aspire to.

For those of you who feel they are in trance but are still able to function as though you are not, consider this: you may be fooling yourself. Your perception of what trance really is may not be correct.  You may be being overshadowed. This often happens.   You may in fact be deluding yourself.

The problem here is that you will not be deluding others.  They will watch you and see you are not in trance, unless they too know nothing of the subject. And you will be lowered in their esteem. I know of some so called trance mediums who are laughed at behind their backs.  Not nice, but understandable. There is little more amusing to watch, than a bad actor.

Take care,  and research your subject before finding yourself a good tutor.  Only when your tutor is happy with your work will you be ready to show others.

This is a very emotive subject amongst mediums and the Spiritualist church.  I, as always, have my own opinions.

RESCUE CIRCLES are sometimes formed by Spiritualists in order to help the dead by freeing them from their earthbound state. The idea being that earthbound spirits are unable to go to the light and progress to the spirit world without the help of us mortals.

The souls are understood to be trapped on the material plane. Supposedly, they do not realise they are dead. The sitters in the circle, mediums and their circle members, offer prayers and guide the spirit through the light on their way to a higher existence.

As a medium with many years experience, I have never come across a spirit who has needed my humble help to go to the light, and thus to their intended place in the spirit world. I am not afraid to admit it either.

I know I am not the only medium who feels this way. Surely it is the job of the deceased’s guardian angel, or spirit guide, to guide them back to the home from whence they once came. Why would they need our help?

Yes, I know that when a person has a violent or tragic passing, they will need time to get used to the fact they have passed. Whereas a person who has been ill for a while will be a little more prepared spiritually. But, that still doesn’t mean that their guide or guardian angel cannot lead them to the light.

I personally am not so arrogant as to believe I can do what spirits cannot.  And, No I do not believe we need to rescue spirits. More like they need to rescue us!

In the Sheffield Star this Monday evening, 7th November, there was a column which incensed me.  It was all about a woman objecting to mediums. Why was she given the column space?

The mediums she objected to, were recently at an event at Dronfield Centre.  This event was organised by the Mayor’s office to raise funds for charity. So far so good!

The mediums raised over £250. I know the charitable cause was grateful. Dronfield was grateful.  There was of course a ‘Christian Woman’,  who was far from grateful. She was angry.

Quoting her bible, she said the mediums were tricking themselves and were really working with the devil, not spirits of loved ones.   Is she saying  the devil is happy to raise money for charity!  She seems to know the devil better than any Spiritualists  I know.  Spiritualists don’t believe in such a thing as a devil, or in hell.  Apart from the ones on Earth that is. We make our own hell.

If this woman is really a Christian, shouldn’t she be behaving in a Christian manner.  Demanding that the Mayor, in future, not allow such events with mediums is hardly being Christian. Who does she think she is?

Would this person like to have a go at the Mormon, Judaism, Scientology and Islamic faiths too.  Because I am sure she doesn’t agree with them also. Or is it just that mediums and Spiritualism are easy game.  We are a registered religion. We have rights too. And we are charitable and caring people.  Ask any one of us, and no one will refuse to help a charity if they are able.

I say to her: Be a Christian and Live and Let Live for God’s sake. We are all his children.

Whilst developing, that is forever, you must always have a trusting relationship with your guide. This is most important. You cannot work so closely and not be able to trust.

You build up this trust so that you can work together and give messages of support to sitters.  You have to prove life after death. Therefore you must be honest. You must trust your guide to give you the correct information and your guide should be able to trust you, the medium, to be honest when giving the messages.

It all begins in the development group. Honesty is paramount. There should be no fooling anyone. You cannot fool yourself. And, why would you want to.  You must be honest with yourself and honest with your teacher and the rest of the group.

Your teacher cannot help you if you are not honest.  Keep the messages to the point. That means no adding and no taking away. To quote from a TV programme ‘ if you see it say it’!  Do not add do not take away.  Adding or taking away just one word may change the essence of the intended message.  It can end up like Chinese Whispers. We don’t want that do we.

Likewise, if you sense something, say honestly what you sense.  If you are experimenting with trance or transfiguration, say only exactly what you see and what you experience.

Don’t exaggerate things. It can give a false impression and in the end is no proof.  You may spoil the proof  by your meddling with the message. It is no good giving a medium the false impression that they have a particular gift when they do not.

I don’t wish to offend anyone here. I am just trying to get across how important truth is, especially when working with the spirit.

As always, I value your feedback. My email link is on this page.

Yes, the truth is out there.  But, make sure you get proof of life after death. Don’t just take it on faith. That’s not what Spiritualism is all about.

Other religions take life after death on the say so of priests, vicars, rabbis etc.  Spiritualist mediums have to prove it to you. You are not expected to take it on faith alone.

A medium’s purpose in life,  is to give proof of life after death to those who seek it.  In the spiritualist church, a medium should not get up on the platform and take a service of they cannot give that proof.  They are not mediums if they cannot do it.

There are far too many psychics on our platforms, who wouldn’t know proof if it jumped up and smacked them in the face!  They need to get back to the development circle. Or maybe they haven’t even sat for development. Some think they can do it alone.  Ego gets in the way here.

Psychics are fine in the open circles, but not on the platform. Leave that to mediums please.

In these worrying times, in the light of psychic Sally being accused of fakery, we must try even harder to run our churches with discretion.  We cannot afford to be tarred with the same brush as her, or of others from the past.  I don’t think anything has been proven yet, but we should all be at our best.

We must safeguard the future for mediums and the Spiritualist movement. We are a religion after-all!  As a religion, we are always under scrutiny, unlike other religions.  For this reason alone, we must give the highest  truth at all times. Honesty is the only way. Proof is essential!

If there comes a day when I cannot give proof of life after death, it will be the day I stop working as a medium.

As always, I value your feedback. There is an email link at the top of this page.

Sometimes when you attend a circle or service at a Spiritualist church, the medium may ‘give’ you a guide. Basically, they come to you and say that they have a guide with you and go on to tell you about your guide.

In my own opinion, it happens far too often. The thing about guide giving,  is that there is no proof whatsoever that this is your guide. You only have the givers opinion that this is your guide. Unless of course,  you are already aware of the guide.

It is too easy to go to a person and say ‘I have this nun with you’, or, ‘I have this native American Indian with you’.  Without any proof at all. It may fill out a scant message and appear to give it substance. But there is no substance here.

There are also far too many people sitting in the churches who will believe anything a medium tells them. Thus, a person could end up with dozens of guides given to them from the platform. What to do with them all eh!

My advice on being given guides is:

wait until the same guide has been given to you by three different mediums

on three separate occasions

the information and description should be the same each time

you should not share the information until you have the proof

Of course, you may well know the guide they describe, which is fair enough.  But, be careful here, as it is so easy to believe the information about the guide that it may lead to you imagining you see them.  This often happens.  A medium gives a person a ‘new guide’ and then the person meditates and ‘sees’ the guide. This could be because the description has been so real that it fixes in your mind. The guide probably does not exist.

Guides will come close to you and get to know you during meditations. You will get to know them and learn to work together. It is usually when the partnership is working that others may become aware of their presence. Their influence may be apparent too.

If you are aware of your guide and have asked for some sort of proof from them, they may well use another medium to give it to you. That is an entirely different matter.

Take most guide info with a pinch of salt and seek the proof for yourself.

Some of you may be forgiven for thinking that the psychic on the platform at your local spiritualist church, or hall, is an actor or actress.  Sadly this comes with the territory.  Some are just that, or at least use a bit of that.

You sit in your chair hoping that the medium speaking today will come to you and pass on a message from your loved ones in the spirit world.  One to make you believe that they are still watching over you.  You really want to believe there is life after death and a message would help you to make up your mind.

You expect the subject to be taken seriously, if not by the general public, then at least by the spiritualists.  Most spiritualists do take proving life after death very seriously.  That does not mean that they cannot be happy, or laugh and smile whilst they give proof.  There are some who can give proof whilst still being entertaining and amusing, without acting.

What you do not expect, is for the person on ‘stage’ to behave in an unseemly manner and appearing to put on some sort of act.  This though is sadly sometimes what you get.

Sometimes, though not all times by any means, the medium on the platform will affect a stance that is not their usual.  This may take the form of implying that spirit are making them behave oddly.  Some will affect a limp or hold their hand and arm at a funny angle and say that their guide has a disability.  Their guide may well have had a disability whilst on the earth plain but certainly not in the spirit world.  They have no physical body once they have passed over.

Use your own intelligence here.  If it seems to you that a spirit would not make a medium look foolish by ‘making’ them hold their body in an odd way, then do not accept it.

You have to understand that spirits do not have physical bodies.  Therefore, they cannot possibly make any able bodied physical person do anything with their body.  It is purely showmanship.

Shockingly for me, I have witnessed the leader of an open circle behaving as if drunk.  She was falling around, swaying and flinging her arms about, whilst saying that the spirit who was coming through was forcing drink down her.  She insisted that the spirit was drunk and now she was drunk too because the spirit was giving her whiskey.  What a load of codswallop!  Whiskey in the spirit world!

You must always use your own intelligence to help you realise when you are being had.  Some do this on purpose and it is obvious as it is a regular occurrence.  Others are deluded into thinking they have to affect these positions.  What utter nonsense!

Spirit would never, ever make a medium look foolish.  The only person who can do that is the supposed ‘psychic’.  Please be discerning.  You should be able to spot when showmanship is happening if you just use common sense.

When you hear the crowds coming out of church or the theatre, saying things like ‘Oh what a laugh, wasn’t it good’.  Ask yourself was it music hall type good or was there really good evidence of survival of the spirit.  Remember, laughter can, and often does, go hand in hand with spirit work.  This is acceptable.  Showmanship is not.

Today’s post is not actually about psychic gifts, rather about the places where it is demonstrated.  I like to cover all the subjects which I get email about.

There are hundreds of Spiritualist churches and therefore, hundreds of church committees. The committee represents the whole of the church membership. The church as a whole is also representative of the SNU (Spiritualist National Union).

It is so important that the church runs smoothly and therefore the committee must be united in their purpose.  They need to work together in unison to provide a friendly, welcoming, and caring church.

This unfortunately,  does not always happen. There always seems to be one person who causes strife and unrest in the church. ( Often this is a person who wants to have their own way and get a bit of so called power.  By trying to show self importance, they get in a strop if they don’t get it ).  This happens everywhere and not just in church.  If  that person is also on the committee it increases the chance of committee breaking up and therefore, instability in the church.

My own feeling is that such a person should not  be allowed to serve on the church committee.  Once a church trouble maker always…………..    This is not being unspiritual but being realistic.  It is hard to believe that such stuff happens in the name of spirit, but it does. There is always someone with a chip on their shoulder.

We have to consider everyone of our members. The committee should keep a watchful eye out and make sure people behave with decorum in church.  Also to make sure that no one over steps their mark either.  Only the committee should act as committee, unless invited by the committee to help out in some way.    I know it sounds obvious but from the emails I get, it just is not obvious to some.

I personally could not serve on a church committee where one person undermines others on that committee.  I am sure most of us feel the same.  We are, after all, working for Spirit.  We must aim to run our churches smoothly and friendly. In harmony, with a wonderful aura.  It starts and ends with the committee.

This is a general observation from years of working and serving churches.  I am happy to say that both my church and our committee is happy as I write.  Long may it stay that way.   We are working hard to improve our church and raise funds to pay for it’s  refurbishment. We work together and all help each other. This creates a lovely aura in the church and committee room.  We are a friendly team.

Thanks to those who have written to me about troubles in church and church committee. I hope you are able to sort out your problems and remain as one.   I hope some of these examples have helped you.  I have come across most in my time.

If the committee makes you feel unworthy and will not sort it out,  then my advice is to leave it behind you.   Spirit will take you else where. Somewhere that you will be loved and appreciated.

The phrase new age covers a wide range of things. Mediumship, psychics, Tarot cards, Reikki healing, Spirit healing, Crystals and much more. At new age stores you can buy anything from incense sticks to Ouija boards and angel cards to rune stones.

It seems to be one phrase to suit all. But it is easy to know where to look for information, albeit not very expert knowledge. So you are not sure to find out exactly what you want. They are a sort of jack of all trades. Good, but not experienced enough to be of value to a person who wishes to develop any of the classic new age gifts.

Classic gifts in this case means -  psychic gifts and mediumship  -  Rekki and Spiritual healing.  For these you need a tutor, teacher or practitioner. It is wisest to go to the best you can find. With all these subjects you need to tread carefully.  people who have little knowledge of the subject make bad teachers and would never make a good mentor.

Look through my blog and find out about the gifts you are interested in. Read all you can both on my blog and in good books.  Books though need to be recommended as a lot of them are full of rubbish unfortunately.

If you would like to know something which I can help you with, please email; me here at the contact link on this page.

Enjoy!
