Psychic reading  isn’t easy by any means.  You have to develop your psychic gifts,  and to be a medium is a life long dedication to the development of it.

I have been developing my gifts now for over 30 years.  When I write about psychic gifts it may sound simple, but in practice it is far from simple.

I try to give you an overview of different types of readings, flowers, ribbons, sand, among others.  If you have been developing your psychic ability then these are something you may try.  But if you have not done any development then you have a while to go before you can be an accomplished reader.

Remember though, we all have to start somewhere and the sooner you start your development the sooner you will be able to give readings and help people.

I have had people come to my development groups who have expected to be able to give readings almost straight away.  They then lose interest when they realise they have to put a bit of work and dedication into it.  These are the ones who are not intended to use such gifts. It is not for them and it certainly is not for everyone.

If you have the urge and the time to be dedicated, then you should go for it.  Someone is trying to impress you to go ahead and develop.  That someone is your spirit guide or guardian angel.  They will help you if you are determined to help yourself.

And I am always here to help you should you need my advice or help. I am always contactable through this blog and my website.

Sometimes when a client has lost a loved one they prefer me to go to their own home to give them a reading. They need some proof that their loved one is still ‘alive’ in the spirit world and that they are looking over them.

They feel I will get closer to them if I visit their home. Sometimes I do get closer.  I sit in the loved ones chair and tune in to their spirit.  It is usually not long before they come through offering up memories to prove their existence.

I remember one lady’s spirit bound husband came through and told me that no one else was allowed to sit in his chair.  Not me and not then and certainly not now.  He insisted that he still sat there.  And, his wife insisted it too. She often felt aware of his presence.

She never let anyone sit there when he was alive and now he was gone to the higher side of life, she still felt it was his chair.  So did he.  I felt his presence strongly and also his fragrance. I described it to the lady and she knew just what I meant.

Her hubby gave me lots of memories to share with her and also gave her some reassurances about difficulties she was having in the present time.  The lady felt very comforted and settled after his visit.  His name was unusual or at least uncommon, Oswald.  He made fun of his name too.

It takes all sorts and different ways of tuning in sometimes.  As long as I tune into the spirit world it all goes well.  That’s what mediums are all about!  Empty chairs can be a joy to ‘read’!

Maybe feather reading is new to you but I have used it for a long time.  On one occasion when I was in Canada I was asked to do readings and I had no ribbons with me.  I had picked up a few feathers on our travels around BC and I decided maybe it would be a good way of reading psychically.

I went to a few local places to collect more, and along with the collection I already had, there were enough for me to work with.  I had a few practice sessions with kind friends and then I was ready.

Feathers are nice to work with as they are very tactile. They feel nice and silky and are different shapes too.  It just feels right working with them.  I use clairsentience for this purpose.  Clairsentience being the gift of clear sensing.

The readings went very well and the sitters were very surprised at my work with the feathers.  The contact and communication with spirit was excellent.  Proof of survival was had by all.

I use my feathers often now and enjoy the memory of Canada which comes along with them.

Is a medium always switched on?  Or, does a medium walk round all the time with spirits talking to them or showing themselves.  Do mediums see spirits all the time and is it just like looking at me and you?

Well, if a medium walked around all the time with spirit voices in their head,  picking up all the aches and pains a spirit can pass on to a medium,  they would soon be gaga!

A medium really has to learn very early on in their psychic development,  that they have to tune in and open up, and close down when they have finished their session.  It would be an impossible existence otherwise.  It would be like having crossed wires on a telephone exchange.  Mind boggling.

When a medium is tuned in they see spirits in their head usually.  In a subjective manner.  They  hear in a subjective manner too.  They cannot get mixed up between live humans and spirit people.

It is not quite like Ghost Whisperer where she is constantly interrupted by life like spirits wanting her help.  Although spirits do sometimes need help from a medium.  It is not quite so dramatic.

Mediums deal with the ethereal world and get their messages in an ethereal way.  That’s what the words beginning with clair… mean really.  Clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience.  Seeing, hearing and sensing or feeling and knowing.

We mediums can only help the living if make sure we set time aside for readings and shut down for the rest of the day.  That way we keep spirit happy, our sitters happy and ourselves sane.

This week the April issue number 4 of the Chat It’s Fate magazine is on your newsagent’s shelves.  I am proud to say that on page 42 there is a feature about me and my mediumship.

It is in fact an article  about my flower reading.  It explains how I read flowers and gives a couple of examples of  flower readings with me and my sitters.

I will of course be interested in your comments.

One of my favourite TV programmes is Medium.

Alison Dubois (Patricia Arquette) ,  attempts to balance family life with solving mysteries using her special gift. The dead send her visions of their deaths or other crimes while she sleeps.

Allison works in the Phoenix District Attorney’s office. She uses her psychic abilities to help crack criminal cases. Her dreams often give her clues to the whereabouts of missing people, and by touching someone she often gets to see beneath the facade into the person’s spirit.

Alison is a wife, and mother of three children, including a daughter who seems to be developing psychic powers.

My only reservation about this programme  is that Patricia Arquette mumbles a lot, and therefore I miss some of the dialogue. It does not stop me watching, though I wish she would work on her diction.

Apparently this programme is based on a real life medium, who still works for the police.  As in most TV programmes there is some poetic licence but it is mostly believable.  I am sure you will soon get hooked on it.  There have been some really gripping episodes.

I am often asked why it is that some mediums work with their eyes closed.  You need to understand how mediums work first to understand why they close their eyes.

If a medium is clairvoyant,  they will  ’see’  what spirit is showing them.  They do not see with their physical eyes though.  They see with their psychic sight.  What they see is subjective and not objective.  Therefore, what they see is in their head.  It is a bit like having a TV screen in your forehead.

A medium can learn to work with their eyes open with practice.  It is difficult at first but can become second nature.  When a medium is a novice they will find it easier to keep their eyes shut, so that nothing distracts them from the spirit communication.  A novice is easier to distract as they are generally more  nervous.

Usually you will find that when you have a private consultation with a medium, they will tend to close their eyes more often because they are working closely with you and spirit.  It helps the concentration.

Clairaudients and clairsentients do not need to keep their eyes closed, as what they are getting is not seen.  But, some may do so in order to keep their concentration.  It is only like any normal person who is trying to concentrate on something.

Divine service at a spiritualist church always includes a demonstration of mediumship. This is so that there can be proof of survival of the spirit or soul, after bodily death. This is the basis of spiritualist teachings.

The medium gives philosophy, says prayers and then demonstrates the gift of mediumship.  This being interspersed with hymns and readings.

Whenever there is a different type of mediumship being demonstrated it is classified as experimental mediumship. This is not allowed at divine services.  Flower reading, ribbon reading and trance mediumship are classed as experimental. So are automatic writing, aurography and psychometry.

Table tilting is also considered experimental.  Psychic suppers, where a medium sits with a group to give short readings, prior to having supper, is also experimental.

Of course, since the law was changed and the old fraudulent mediums act was repealed,  most of what occurs in a spiritualist church is considered entertainment.  That is sad when it is our religion.  But we must rise above it and try with all that we believe to prove life after death as always.

There are so many gifts that people have which are unexplained by science. It does not mean that they do not exist!

Psychic gifts have names that begin with clair…  I am often asked what they all mean so I will give you a quick insight today.

Clairvoyance, the most widely known, means clear seeing, or the gift of seeing psychically.  Clairvoyants will see most of the message they pick up from the spirit communicators. Or if they work purely psychically  they will see things in their head.

Clairaudience means clear hearing.  A medium with this gift will hear most of their spirit communication.  Usually the voices are subjective, heard within the head.

Clairsentience -which seems to be the gift which is most common among mediums nowadays - is all about sensing.  A medium will feel a sense of pain, or will sense the scent a spirit loved one.   They will find they just seem to know things about their sitter.  Knowing is perhaps a good way to describe it.

Occasionally a medium will have a mixture of gifts.  I am lucky in that I have a mixture of clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience.  Which means my communications from the spirit world are a mixture too.  I see, hear and sense the things I am given to relay.  It allows me to put together a good picture, with the added bonus that I may hear the names and places being spoken.

I may see a spirit,  so that I may describe them.  I may hear a spirit, so that I may repeat their words.  I may also feel a sense of the pains they suffered or smell their favourite scent.

Whichever gift you have it is a God given gift.  Be grateful you have it and learn to use it to the best of your ability so that you can help people who are in need of proof of survival after death.

Colour reading is a form of medumship.  Being a colour reader, as you know by now,  I like to read ribbons and flowers but I also like to read stones.  Coloured stones, not rune stones.

I have quite a few lovely stones which I have collected on my travels. Some are from France and some from Hawaii, but most of them are from Canada.

There are some wonderful colours in these stones.  A lot of them are agates. Most are semi precious gemstones.

Just like the ribbons and the flowers, I can ask my sitters to choose some and I give a reading from them.  Linking in with the spirit world as I do so.  The colours tell me so much about my sitter and spirit bring the rest.  The proof of life after death from spirit being the most important part of the reading.

Choice of colour can show many things, not least of all dwinding health or blooming health.  Happiness, sadness and novelty.  They all show up in the colours.

Why not try it for yourself.  Collect a few stones, you can get them from craft fairs and craft stores.  A lot of new age type fairs usually have stalls which sell stones and crystals and the like.  You can even use your own booklet of swatches of material.  Whatever you prefer. It is the colour that is important.

If you get the opportunity to have your colours read go ahead and enjoy.  Email me if you would like to share your experience or thoughts on this subject.
