Mediumship and Beyond

This is a difficult one. My son used to go to church with me when he was only four.  He would sit quietly and read a comic and drink the orange juice supplied by the church president. Happy memories now!

He didn’t seem to be taking too much notice at that time.  He would also like to sit with us in my home circle. Again he just seemed to enjoy what was going on. Although he wasn’t fond of the meditation as he thought nothing was happening.

But, there came a time when he was eight, when things started to happen. At someone else’s home circle he started giving messages which were truly accurate and very detailed. When I asked where he got his information from, he described to me a little spirit girl whose name and age he knew.

He would sit with us and ask the little girl to bring him a message for someone in the circle.  She did!  Again accurate and insightful. Wow, what a gift he had. Friends we sat with thought it remarkable.

But there came a time, as he got older, when he was being bullied at school. He was afraid these bullies may find out about his gift and bully him more. He sat with us less and less and eventually declined to sit again.  Very sad and what  a waste of a remarkable gift.

My son had experienced people around him. He had me and the other experienced mediums who sat in my circle. We were able to look after him and guide him.  The average child does not have that safety net. Though that does not exclude them from a spiritualist church.

I suggest that if you want to take you child to a spiritualist church, take them to the divine Sunday service. There  they will sing, say prayers and send thoughts out to the sick on the healing list.  They will of course see the medium of the day demonstrating their gift.  But they will not get involved that way.

Leave taking your child to circles and specials until they are teenagers, at the very least.  But of course, if they start giving messages, ask for help and guidance at the church.

It is not difficult to find a way to develop your sixth sense.  There are numerous avenues open to you. You could go it alone or join a group.

You do not have to take up Spiritualism to develop your psychic gifts either.  Religious people are not the only ones granted these extra senses.  Your religious beliefs remain your own.

At home, either by yourself or with a small group of like minded people, is a good place to begin.  I have devised my own method of development and if you would like to find out more about it, email me through my web site or add a comment on this page and I will get back to you.

Meditation is a good place to start. Learning to relax helps both the physical body and also to quieten the mind.  My method uses meditation, but you do not have to be used to meditation in order to learn how to attune yourself.

Remember, we are all psychic but not all of us are mediums.  Anyone can work on developing their psychic ablity, but it does not mean that you will become mediumistic. More on this subject in future posts.

I have felt my Grandmother close to me for most of my life since she passed over. I feel that she has guided me and inspired me in my daily life, and, most certainly, during my time of developing my gifts.

I used to go to Spiritualist churches all over the country, with the knowledge that no one knew me and therefore, whatever I was told in messages, they could not possibly have known about before. I witnessed some wonderful psychic phenomena over the years and saw some really awe inspiring mediums at work.

My interest and intrigue finally got the better of me and I decided to join a development class. From then onwards, there was no stopping me, because however busy I was, or however difficult things were, I pursued my vocation with all my heart and soul.

The truth really is out there!

Although my maternal Grandmother was the person who originally got me interested in all things paranormal, or other worldly, it was only after her untimely death that I really began my search.

I was 21, married, and very busy with two beautiful babies to bring up, when she suddenly died after a bout of flu.  I was devastated. We had been so close and now she was gone. Thus I began my search to prove to myself that she was still around.

She always believed in a life eternal, and I never questioned her belief.  When she was gone, I had to find out for myself. It took a long time and a lot of searching to find my answers. Starting to develop my own sixth sense was a natural progression of my personal life, and I was determined to find a link with my Grandmother.

Last Saturday saw lots of nice, like minded people, turn up at our church for Jill’s Crystal Workshop.  We had ladies from as far away as Beverley. They loved it.

Jill is very knowledgeable abour crystals and their uses. She showed us lots of her own collection of crystals. She also explained the many uses for them and the properties therein.

The shapes and the colours and the size all have their own importance. It has made me want to learn more about them.  I bout several from our church stall.  We sell items like this in order to raise funds for the church.

Jill also brought along some crystal jewelry and chakra stones for us to by as well as those we could look at and handle.  Altogether, it was a really nice experience.

We were given demonstrations of crystal healing too and those who volunteered to be practised on enjoyed it too.  We also learned how to use a pendulum. Most of us bought them too.

We were given lots of had outs so that we didn’t have to worry about forgetting any of it. That was very useful for us all.  So now we can just look up the information in our own time.

It is so important to develop properly and with a good experienced tutor. I cannot emphasise this enough. Lack of knowledge can be so dangerous.

Even experienced mediums can get into trouble when spirits come far too close to you whilst giving readings, either on platform, in circle, or one to one.

Knowing what to do when this happens comes with knowledge and experience. Even then some spirits won’t take no for an answer.  When a medium goes into an altered state, spirits can come extremely close.  You have to stay in control and be very firm with them. Tell them to back off and be insistent.

Spirits can put conditions on you which can becaome physical if you are not careful. They try to let you know what their ailments felt like and by giving you an example of this, they often go too far for you.

Believe me, if a spirit comes too close and puts the condition of not being able to breathe, on you, it is not nice at all.  The good that comes of this, is that you can give really good evidence to your sitter.  The information that follows in this altered state is always good quality, because they are so close to you. The information is direct and not interferred with by the medium.

Lack of  knowledge and development leads to a lot of psychic information to be given. Also, the mediums mind often interferes with the incoming information. Being in the power of this altered state helps control that.

Don’t try it unless you have an expert to see you through it. Most of all, don’t try anything that you have had no training in.

If your knowledge is lacking, maybe as in my previous post, then what better to do than go on a course.  Find a course or workshop to attend with wonderful teachers. Improve yourself that way.

I attended a wonderful course this weekend. There were lots of lovely like minded  people there.  It was wonderful to share a dining table  ( and the bar) with others who understood where we were coming from. How I will miss those lovely new friends. We learned so much together during the exercises we were given.

We learned all about being in the power. Better still, we learned how to stay in the power. We also were able to see how our energies changed from the passive state, to the message giving state. We had photos taken which showed up our energies in wonderful colour. What a great way to learn.

I will especially miss Aneka, a lovely Dutch lady, with whom I was paired for many of the exercises. Ilsa too, who really worked hard to perfect her English along the way. What wonderful characters!  Suzette, who was so warm and supportive and the lovely Dawn.  And, Verity!  A wonderful young lady with so much zest for the subject and for life itself. What a time we had.

The weekend was made complete by the companionship of my very loyal friends, Pearl and Teresa. How we laughed, cried, and learned so much together!

Our wonderfully mediumistic  tutors were the fabulous Mavis Pitilla – creme de la creme of teachers – and Thelma who I met for the first time. Thelma is a lovely, knowledgeable, lady who brought laughter and energy to the whole affair. Plus, the camera which she used to great effect in showing us our energies.

A special mention to Jean, Mavis’ great friend, who organised the whole affair and looked after all our needs with love and laughter. She’s a true gem!

I recommend you try this if you get the opportunity. You will never regret it!  Watch out for announcements on this blog about Mavis. I have managed to secure a booking with her for our church in Sheffield. More later………..

My friend goes on ghost walks.  He likes to find things out for himself. He pays no heed to those who tell elaborate stories about what ghosts they have seen, and TV haunting programmes are something he just laughs at. He has paid out for ghost hunting events which have left him cold, so now he searches for himself, and it doesn’t cost him a penny. Furthermore, it is more rewarding.

He has found quite a few places to go around the Yorkshire, Nottinghamshire, and Derbyshire countryside.  He has also made a few friends with like minds. These are people who are fed up with being duped.  So, together, they spend at least one day or night a week in pursuit of haunted places.

They go armed with cameras and recorders, but have found the best equipment to be their own senses. They have become in tune with their own sixth senses and find it very useful. When approaching areas of interest they feel tingling sensations, get cold shivers, or the hairs on the back of their necks stand on end. They notice cold spots and areas where the birds are quiet. They compare thoughts and feelings to see if they are all getting the same sensations and they trust each other, and no one is stage managing the events.

They are very interested in orbs, which from time to time appear on photos they have taken whilst walking in dark woods. They may appear up in the trees or out in the open or on high. There seems, as yet, no rhyme or reason why they see them or what they are.  Some are white and some have a blue hue to them. Some appear to have what looks almost like a face in their centre.

If orbs are a naturally occurring event they will find out, and if not they will keep on searching. A search for the truth can be a lifetime’s work…

It is fairly often that I get told stories of things going bump in the night.  It might be noises in the house when it is dark. It might be things that are moved around or switched on. Whatever it is always makes the residents nervous.

Sometimes a spirit loved one may be trying to catch the attention of someone.  They may try to move objects or make noises to do this.  Sometimes they can makes lights flicker or turn them off. Maybe you have one who turns on taps or moves specific objects that they know you will notice.

It is always the loud noises that scare people the most. Especially when it is dark. You try to convince yourself that its just the old house settling!  Or maybe a huge draught of air has knocked something over. But when you have checked everything out, you may not be so sure.

If you think it is a loved spirit then you can ask questions and tell them to give you a sign that it is really them.  You may be happy to have them around. After all they can do you no harm and you may find it sort of comforting.  You may like to enlist the help of a medium to try to communicate with the spirit, to find out just who they really are.

But what if its none of these? What if you keep hearing noises in the night? What if taps are turning on? What if you hear whispering?  What if someone is playing around with your electrical items?  Maybe your home has a spirit that you dont know anything about? Is your radio turning on and off as if by its own accord?

Strangely, as I am writing this, I am hearing taps on my wall. Definite tapping. In fact two definite knocks!!!  I offered up ‘Bless you’, but I have had no other response yet. Someone knows what I am writing about!!!  It is not night time and the sun is streaming in,  so no need to feel its scary. But there is someone here with me now, I am certain of this.

Your spirit may just be someone who belongs to the house or even to the ground on which your house is built. If your house is not old, or if you are the only family who ever lived in it, it may be that a more ancient building was on the site where you now live.  Maybe the spirit who is going bump in the night or rapping on your wall is actually from another time. Some place in history.

You can always investigate and find out what was there before you and your home. It may be that a very old spirit is trying to contact you.  Do some detective work and see what you can find out.  You may be very surprised and may find it very rewarding.

Spirits don’t torment us for fun you know. If they are trying to communicate, then it is always for a good reason and a purpose.  I am hearing another tap on my wall. There is nobody else here but me. I think someone is reading over my shoulder!!!  I know I have a vistor but then I am used to spirits.
