My title should remind you of my feelings on the difference between spirits coming close, and the images of a traumatic event trapped in time.  Those of you who read this blog regularly will know how I feel very strongly that these are indeed two different events.  The ghost replaying the same trauma over and again, draws the attention of the public, who seem to become aware of it at the same time of day or night on each occasion.

The spirits however, draw close to prove that there really is a continuation of the human consciousness and therefore, life after death.  The spirit will not only bring comfort but will bring advice and give a brief history of their earthly existence.  Some more than others of course. Mostly through a medium.

When we went to a ghost hunt at the Castle Market building, we experienced  no ghostly  happenings at all. But I was aware of spirit. Lots of them but only the mediums were aware of them. There were no visual sightings.

I am not dismayed or unhappy, as it is what I personally expected.  Others of our group were hoping to see ghosts and therefore they are probably a little miffed.  For me, being a spiritualist, I enjoyed the contact of spirit and would have enjoyed holding a spiritualist seance there, as I am sure we would have received greater proof of their existence, if we had.

Overall, it was a very interesting experience, during which we used table tilting and dowsing rods along with tape recorders, cameras and camcorders.  We often all picked up similar things along the way around the modern part of the building.  But for me, the best part was when we toured the very historical part of the building.

Apart from my spiritual and mediumistic interests, the history of the place really got to me, and I urge you to take a tour of the place yourselves.  Especially as the whole historic place may soon disappear, thanks to those concrete monsters which local builders put in their stead.

Please, don’t let this happen.  If enough people take an interest, the city council may decide to have a visitor centre and make the most of our heritage.  Meanwhile, a more in depth write up will be posted here tomorrow along with links to websites that have more information about this and other local sites.

A couple of weeks ago I went along with a friend to a local church, having a very animated conversation along the journey. We talked about family and, in particular, about family members who lived away.

There were two speakers  on  this particular Saturday and neither seemed to be very experienced at their craft, but obviously tried their best. Part of what made it difficult for them was the fact that some who received messages were unwilling to let it be, and continued to try and take the messages that followed too.

It can be hard for a medium to break a link, but it is a must when there is a large room with a few people in who are “message grabbers.”  Unfortunately, there are a lot of message grabbers at church meetings, along with those who are desperate to hear from loved ones.

That said, one of the speakers gave me a message which was full of information about the subjects we had talked about during our journey there.  Names and places were mentioned, but also dates which linked with them. This is a good example of a psychic message rather than a mediumistic one. Information seemed to be gleaned from around our auras rather than from the spirit world.

Terms You Should Know Before You Develop Your Psychic Ability

Although I am sure you are very keen to start, before you go any further, it may be useful to familiarise yourself with some of the terms used by mediums, psychics, and Spiritualists.

Aura:An aura is something we all have, and this is backed up by scientific evidence. It once was questionable, as Auras are usually invisible to the naked eye, but with the invention of Kirlian photography, which catches the aura on film, it is now proven. The aura is fact not fiction. The aura is made up of colours and surrounds the body in a sort of egg shape.

The average person does not see it, but a psychic can learn how to see it with practise. The colours shimmer, pulsate and change according to how the body and mind is reacting to outside influences. Some mediums can also read auras. They can tell you a lot about what is going on in and around your life, by studying your aura and its colours. Objects too have auras.

Circle or Psychic Circle:A circle is made when a group of people get together to practise their psychic and mediumistic skills. A group often work best when sitting in a circle, as each person can be seen by all, making communication between each other much easier. Anyone can attend an open circle at a Spiritualist church; it is a good place to learn more about psychics and mediumship and improve ones abilities.

Clairaudience (clear hearing): Some mediums have the gift of hearing voices or words within the head, that cannot be heard by the psychically undeveloped person. Again, it can be used by the medium when developed to a high degree, in order to pass information on to a sitter, from the spirit entities and loved ones on the higher side of life. It can be a bit like being a switchboard operator.

Clairsentience (clear sensing): This is another psychic gift used by mediums. It allows the medium to sense or feel things, including pain and emotion, which are communicated from loved ones in the spirit world.

Clairvoyance (clear seeing): The ability to see images, pictures, and even spirits with the third eye: a place in the centre of the brow that is invisible to the naked eye. When the third eye is well developed the medium can utilise it to help give proof of life after death.

Development Circle: In a development circle one learns how to develop psychic awareness. Such circles are usually held at a Spiritualist church, but can be held at a private home by an experienced medium. It is not advisable to attend another development circle whilst you are learning to develop elsewhere.

Spiritual tutors have defined their own ways of developing and sometimes they are incompatible with others, and this would only cause confusion. That said, it is okay to attend Spiritualist open circles and practise your skills, as there is no teaching happening when the circle is open to all. So, as long as you learn the rules of opening and closing, as explained later, the open circle can be a good experience.

Life After Death: When we human beings die, our body is no longer needed, hence the need for burial or cremation, but our spirit or soul moves on to the spirit world to carry on its intended existence. This process is often referred to as Transition, but in fact it is our life after this life. Once transition has taken place, the spirit carries on with its progression  and evolvement to a higher spiritual plane.

Medium:A medium, is someone who has developed their own psychic ability to such a degree that they have become aware of an ability to communicate with spirit entities and loved ones who have passed over to the spirit world. Mediumship is not an inherent gift, though it is possible to develop dormant skills.

Private Sitting: If a person wishes to receive a one-to-one message from a medium, they can book a private sitting. This can of course be free of charge, but most often there is a fee. We all have to live and finance our homes and offices, and mediums are no exception, so most have to charge. Not many people will or are able, to work for nothing.

At such a private sitting, you would expect to be given proof of life after death. This would involve being given evidence from a loved one of yours who has passed to the higher side of life. Information not previously known to the medium. This should prove that your loved ones were here on the earth plane and are still watching over you even now.

Psychic: A psychic is someone who uses senses that the average person is unaware of. We all have these psychic senses which are invisible, but which can be develop to a high degree with time and effort. Smell, taste, touch, sight, and hearing, are all physical senses of which we are all aware because we see evidence of them all the time, and indeed take them for granted. Unless you are a Spiritualist, or mix with those who use the psychic senses, you are probably unaware of them.

Psychometry: A sitter gives you a personal item to hold in order for you to give information about the past of the object and its owner. All things hold vibrations or data which has been left on them over time. Pure silk is the only item I know of that holds no vibrations, hence the reason Tarot readers keep their cards wrapped in it.

The reader holds the item and lets their psychic centres take in as much information as possible. It is a bit like being a sponge and soaking up the vibrations and then relating them to the sitter.

Psychic Art:A psychic artist is someone who has the gift of being able to see a spirit entity and draw them, usually at the same time as giving clairvoyance. Sometimes, a second medium is in attendance to add to the clairvoyance.

A famous Psychic Artist was the late Coral Polge, who was a well respected Spiritualist. Coral, did drawings which were said to be very accurate and the clairvoyant proof she added made the sitting more than interesting.

Sitter: A sitter is someone who ‘sits’ with a medium or psychic, either in a circle or privately, in order to receive a ‘message’ or reading from them.

Spiritualist Closed Circle: A closed circle is just for those invited along, private. It is usually open only to church members.

Spiritualist Open Circle: An open circle is usually held at a Spiritualist Church. People sit in a circle with others who are hoping to communicate with someone in the spirit world. You may get a message from an experienced person or from a novice. You could also go to such a circle to practise your own newly developed psychic gifts.

Transition: Our ‘death’ is just a transitory phase from this life to the next, it is in fact a continuation of our existence. We have come from the spirit world, it is our home, and at our earthly death we return to the spirit world. Taking our transition is almost like passing through a door into another dimension. Only a thought away.

Vibrations: Are what he psychic or medium ‘reads’ when one has a sitting. Such vibrations can contain information about the sitter, and their life.

There are sadly,  many times when I have sat in a church and heard the speaker tell someone something bad. This is sometimes very serious. None so serious as the speaker telling someone that a loved one is going to die!!

Firstly, no one can tell you that a person is going to die. No one knows except God. When  pur time is up that’s when we go home to spirit. No one knows when this will be.

Please believe me.   Don’t accept it at all. If it happens in a church then complain to the committee. If it is a private reading,  you should warn everyone against visiting the awful person who said it.

Mediums are there to bring upliftment and hope to people. They bring proof of survival from the Spirit World.  They do not come to upset you. They love you. Why would they upset you.

There are a lot of ethics in mediumship. I teach about it in my circles.  Bad behaviour must be stopped and scaring the public is bad behaviour.  Spiritualists must stamp this out.

For any information about this or other topics please email me at the link on this page.

Psychics and mediums, as well as the general public, like to attend psychic events. Some prefer local events, whilst others are willing to travel for a good experience.

Whether your event is a one day event, or residential seminar or workshop, please share your info here.  My own spiritualist church has quite a few specials and workshops coming up over the next 18 months. I will share the details with you on this blog.

We have all sorts of events at my church: Psychic Fairs, Psychic Suppers, Crystal Workshops, Advanced Mediumship Workshops,  Psychic Artists, Angel Workshops, Trance Mediumship Specials, Confetti Reading Special, Encaustic Art Reading Special, Angel Special, and others too.

We have a special day with the wonderful Tutor and Medium, Mavis Pittilla.  Mavis is running an Afternoon Workshop followed by an Evening of Clairvoyance.  That will be a very special day for us.

Information about these, including dates, is on the church website. The link is at the bottom of this page.  I will also be giving reminders as each event comes up, including info about tickets and how to buy them.

For any more info please send me an email at the link on this page.

Guides are our teachers, our inspirers and our truest confidants.  They are with us from the moment of our conception and stay with us always, right back to our home in the spirit world.

We always have one main guide, the one who has been with us forever. This is often termed, door keeper, or as they call it now, the control. I am not sure I like this, as I believe we should always be in control, not the guide.  But here it just means that the door keeper will control who comes and goes with messages from spirit. They also make sure conditions are right for the event. Whatever that event may be, trance, clairvoyance or something else.

From time to time, we may need other guidance.  In this case, another guide will step forward to help. This spirit may be called a guide or helper, but not the door keeper or control.  This new guide may well be a spirit who is developing in preparation to be another  spirits door keeper. They will learn with you and leave when you are both ready.

Helpers too pop in from time to time. It may be that you need extra guidance for an event. You may need an inspirer to give you words for philosophy.  That’s where helpers and inspirers come in. They all work as a team with the door keeper in charge, so to speak.

If you are a medium and decide to become a healer, you will need another guide to lead you. A healing guide will come and be with you, but still under the door keepers control. In effect you will still work as a team.

When you are working mediumistically, and want help and guidance, you ask for your door keeper. If you do not know the name just ask for ‘my door keeper’. Its as easy as that. You may never know your guides name, but you will learn to know when you feel their presence. Though they will only step forward when it is spiritually necessary.

To find out who your guide is, or to know when it is them who is close, is trial and error. You should carry out your own tests.  Is that you?  If its my door keeper please do that again! Please stop tickling my chin if you are my door keeper.  And so on until you find out as much as you need.

In my opinion it is not always necessary to know what your guide is named or what they look like. It is wonderful to feel their presence though.

More on guides later.

I have been asked if you must be clairvoyant in order to be able to see spirits.  Well, no you don’t actually.  Sometimes a spirit may show themselves  to a  loved one shortly after they pass over.

If you have loved ones who have gone to the spirit world, you are still connected by love.  There will always be that bond. Therefore, if they want to show themselves to you, they can.  You will see them because the spirit wants to let you know that the link is not broken. They are still close to you.

Also, a spirit may decide to show themselves to a loved one shortly before the passing of another. This is to let you know they are waiting to meet  and greet the person taking their transition.

It is well documented that when a person is very ill and about to pass over, they call out the names of their spirit loved ones who have come to meet them and help them cross over.  They can see them plainly.

In these cases clairvoyance is not needed. But in other circumstances it is. Clairvoyance allows you to see the spirit. Clairaudience allows you to hear the spirit. Clairsentience allows you to sense and feel the spirit.

This is when you may need a medium!

May 17

Mediums use altered states of consciousness in order to work and communicate with the Spirit World.  They work at different levels depending on what it is they need to do.

The first state helps the medium use clairvoyance, clairsudience and clairsentience.  This is normally what the medium uses when giving messages and communications during the open circles, platform and private sittings.

In order to allow a better communication twixt the spirit loved one and the sitter, a medium may decide to go into a different level of consciousness, in order to allow the spirit more input into the reading.

When in this state all the information the medium gives will be correct and for the one person only.  As opposed to the first level which does allow the mediums mind to work and sometimes interfere with the communication.  Unless we are dead, our mind never stops working.

At a different level, deeper, the medium will be in trance and the spirit may use that opportunity to come through and give philosophy. The words are usually above the level at which the medium normally talks.  Still using the mediums own voice, but with spirits words coming through. There should be inspiring words coming through in this state.  Not the mediums own words.

Unless you are going to give something different, there is no need to go into trance. Why would spirit waste the energy!  Anything else can be given through a lighter state and by clairvoyance.  Some mediums think they are in trance when they actually are not. It is the communication which always proves it.

The ultimate of course,  is a far deeper state which allows physical mediumship.  The medium, as always, is still aware, but spirit has more control. In fact most of the control.  This is when the communication is far more direct.  But of course the medium will still be aware.

There is not as much physical mediumship around as there used to be. It takes a lot of time and dedication and most people don’t have it.

More on this topic in later posts.

I find it good to sit in a circle. Either for development or for advanced mediumship.  There is also the opportunity to develop trance or physical mediumship if you sit regularly.

Long ago people had more spare time than they do now. There was more opportunity to sit for spirit. If you were dedicated enough you could sit several times per week. That would help you develop your gifts and advance them.

I have sat in many circles over the years. Some just to give clairvoyance and proof of life after death.  Others I have sat in were to help other mediums develop physical mediumship.

Physical mediumship is good proof for the public as everyone can see the same thing with physical eyes. You don’t need to be mediumistic in order to see changes.

Transfiguration is a physical gift. Spirit use ectoplasm, taken from the physical mediums body, to mould a mask around the face. This is so the spirit can show the sitters what they looked like when they were on the physical plane. What a wonderful gift.

Direct voice, allows the spirit to use the medium’s voice box in order to let the loved one hear their once physical voice. How fabulous for the loved one hearing the long remembered voice once more.

Physical mediumship can also use trumpets to direct a voice to some one in the circle.  The voice comes out of the trumpet after the trumpet has floated across the circle to them. A sight to behold!

The main reason mediums sit for physical, is in the hope that they will develop ectoplasm enough to be able to produce a whole figure. The figure of a loved one is now in the spirit world. That really is proof that the spirit lives on after physical death.

What is most important here is not the gifts, but the dedication it takes to develop them.  Whether it is clairvoyance, clairaudience, physical mediumship, or trance and transfiguration, it all needs dedication.

If you are going to develop, start as you mean to go on. Be a dedicated sitter in whatever circle you sit. It is for your own good as well as for those with whom you are lucky enough to sit.
