You are welcome at all our services.
Whilst developing, that is forever, you must always have a trusting relationship with your guide. This is most important. You cannot work so closely and not be able to trust.
You build up this trust so that you can work together and give messages of support to sitters. You have to prove life after death. Therefore you must be honest. You must trust your guide to give you the correct information and your guide should be able to trust you, the medium, to be honest when giving the messages.
It all begins in the development group. Honesty is paramount. There should be no fooling anyone. You cannot fool yourself. And, why would you want to. You must be honest with yourself and honest with your teacher and the rest of the group.
Your teacher cannot help you if you are not honest. Keep the messages to the point. That means no adding and no taking away. To quote from a TV programme ‘ if you see it say it’! Do not add do not take away. Adding or taking away just one word may change the essence of the intended message. It can end up like Chinese Whispers. We don’t want that do we.
Likewise, if you sense something, say honestly what you sense. If you are experimenting with trance or transfiguration, say only exactly what you see and what you experience.
Don’t exaggerate things. It can give a false impression and in the end is no proof. You may spoil the proof by your meddling with the message. It is no good giving a medium the false impression that they have a particular gift when they do not.
I don’t wish to offend anyone here. I am just trying to get across how important truth is, especially when working with the spirit.

I have been asked the above question. And I will attempt to answer it now. Though there may be other answers too which are quite valid.
Well, of course anyone can get a message in a Spiritualist church. But it is really up to the Spirit World who they choose to communicate with. Who they feel is most in need.
A lot of mediums when on the platform, begin by working psychically and then move into spiritual. These mediums are often drawn to people by the pull coming from those who are trying really hard. This does not always achieve a good result. The pulling from the solar plexus often makes the medium feel unsettled.
Others tend to look around the room and see whose smiling face draws them. Again, sometimes this works, but not always. It can be difficult for a medium to pull them self from the psychic to the spiritual. Especially if they get stuck in psychic mode. Some really enjoy working that way. But it does not provide life after death.
I find colour is the best influence. Spirit work with colour. And if the medium is a person who, like myself, enjoys working with colour, then it is good to use it. I have a great partnership with my guide. The guide knows what colours to show me to fit any occasion. We work well together.
If spirit are wanting to give a particular message they can communicate this to the medium by using colour. If you are wearing something in a lovely warm colour, it may attract the medium’s attention.
You often hear mediums saying ‘Can I come to the lady in the lovely red coat?’ or ‘May I come to the man in the green jacket?’ They will then go on to give the spirit message and may bring other colours into it. Especially if the medium’s guide likes to work with colour.
So, give it a try next time you go to church. At the very least it will make you feel nice knowing you are wearing something colourful. Let me know how you get on please.
It amazes me that people who have been in Spiritualism a long time still don’t understand some of the phenomena that is produced. Ignorance is rife, even in the Spiritualist movement.
The main thing they don’t understand is Physical mediumship. What is physical and what is not. What can be seen and what cannot. They don’t seem to grasp that physical mediumship phenomena should be seen with physical eyes. Everybody’s physical eyes. Not just a select few.
What constitutes physical mediumship? All the gifts that need ectoplasm to allow spirit to be seen and heard physically. Transfiguration, Direct Voice, Physical Mediumship, where the medium sits in a cabinet and produces spirit forms.
A medium has to sit for years until they produce the ectoplasm that is essential for physical mediumship. Without it there is no physical mediumship.
Transfiguration, involves spirit moulding a mask with the ectoplasm. This mask is placed over the mediums face whilst the medium sits to accommodate them. The actual spirit face will appear to the sitters present, for recognition. It is wonderful to behold when done properly. All the audience will see this. It is physical.
Direct voice, involves spirit manipulating the medium’s voice box, physically, so that they can use it to produce the voice of a spirit loved one. There is also a way in which spirit use ectoplasm to produce direct voice via a trumpet. Spirit lift the trumpet with the ectoplasm and carry it to the recipient. Then the actual spirit voice comes through that trumpet. Again, wonderful to behold. All the sitters will see and hear this. Not just a few. It is Physical.
For physical mediumship to work, it is best for the medium to sit in a cabinet. When the ectoplasm is produced by the medium, the cabinet helps to contain it, so that spirit can use it at its best. Spirit mould the ectoplasm, so that it shows the spirit as he or she was when on the Earth plane. Again, physical. Everyone can see it. Not just a few.
I am always surprised when a medium tells me that they saw transfiguration and that each person saw something different. This is impossible. If it is physical then everyone should see exactly the same thing. If the transfiguration medium is portraying Elvis, everyone should see Elvis, not half Elvis and half Michael Jackson! It is not possible.
It is even more amazing when mediums believe that only those with clairvoyance can see it! What utter rubbish. I am really concerned that there is not the proper teaching in the development circle. The sort of teaching there was when Gordon Higginson was around.
It is all down to ignorance and also the laziness of committees, members of which don’t bother to find good teachers for their novices. Send them all on specialist courses. Make them learn all about it. We have to start somewhere!

If you go on the Internet and google ‘courses in mediumship’, you will come up with a lot of ads for them. This is not really a good thing. Not for the public and not for budding mediums either.
In fact, this is a detriment to Spiritualists in general. Why, because having a diploma from a course does not make you a medium. Although, when you are paying out money for it, this may be what you expect.
Remember, we are all psychic, but mediums are born. Not all psychic have the ability to become mediumistic. You either are or are not.
So, although the course may well be good and improve your psychic ability, it cannot make you a medium. And a piece of paper stating that you have a ‘diploma in mediumship’, means nothing.
Before you rush out there and book on to such courses, make enquiries. Ask those in the know if you can. But, as with all purchases, ‘Buyer Beware’.
As a general rule, a course run by a bona fide medium, who is also a tutor, should be fine. You pay for the course and get what you expect.
It is when you find there is a series of online ‘tests’ to complete and each one costs more money, that alarm bells should ring. None of this is necessary.
Remember, no one can make you a medium. There are many good development circles you can join, which will help you develop your gifts to a good standard. And it does not need a never ending amount of cash.

I am often amazed at the amount of guides some budding mediums appear to get. Or believe they get. Maybe believe is the operative word here.
We all have a doorkeeper. That is one doorkeeper. Not two or three of four. We only need the one guide to protect us and this is the doorkeeper. This guide brings us here from the spirit world on the day we are conceived. This same guide stays with us throughout our Earthly life. On the day of our passing, this same doorkeeper takes us back home to the spirit world.
Whilst we are developing our mediumship, our doorkeeper looks after us. It is this guide who decides who to let through and who to bar. This guide may sometimes step back and allow another guide, inspirer or helper, to come through and help us with a particular project.
We may be learning a new aspect of mediumship and need another’s input. It may be for healing or another new aspect. The doorkeeper does not stay back though, its just for a short period of time during development. The doorkeeper will never leave you.
The guide, your doorkeeper, is real. They may not be solid, but they are real. They are not aliens, not mythical creatures and not magicians. They are very knowledgeable souls who have been in spirit for a long long time. They have been specially chosen for you.
We cannot allow mythical creatures to become part of our development. They were never real. They cannot help us develop our spiritual gifts, because they NEVER EXISTED. They have NO KNOWLEDGE. They are useless to you and to spiritualism and have no place in it.
The same with aliens. There is no proof that aliens, ie creatures who come here to Earth in space ships., exist. Even if they did, and I am open minded here, they cannot help us develop mediumship. They are not from the spirit world.
There are names from our childhood that we remember and maybe thought were real, at the time, such as Father Christmas and Santa. But once grown up we realise such names were only pretence or myths. There was no King Arthur, Camelot and Merlin the magician. They are all myths. So they cannot possibly come back as spirit guides.
Please consider this subject using your common sense. If something insults your own intelligence then please reject it. As I will reject it from my circles.
Do mediums work with their eyes closed, or eyes open? What is the correct way? Or is there a right way?
I personally, close my eyes sometimes when I am giving one to one private readings. I find I am able to bring the spirit closer to me and I can feel them, if my eyes are closed. It is so much better to get communication from them when I can feel them close to me.
If I am working on the platform, or in a circle, I keep my eyes open. You need to stay focused on the recipient of the message when there are others in the room. Plus, as I stand up in public, it is rather important not to lose my balance.
So, it is mostly down to personal preference or necessity, from my point of view. However, a medium does not need to have eyes closed in order to see and communicate with spirit. A medium uses the third eye to ‘see’ spirit, not their physical eyes.
Some mediums feel, sense, or hear spirit. So, again eyes are only needed to see where you are or stop you from falling over. Not for spirit.
It is quite different when sitting for self development. More on this subject later.
