If you live in the South Yorkshire region of England and are looking for an Awareness and Development group to join, here is your opportunity.

My latest group begins tomorrow evening, Tuesday 1st March. It is at Whitham Road Spiritualist church in Sheffield.  The class starts at 7.30 and doors are open at 7pm. The cost is £4 per week, which goes directly to church funds.

The course involves:

  • opening up your psychic centres and  closing them down
  • psychometry
  • learning how to meditate in order to find yourself and to meet your guides
  • discovering how to communicate with spirit
  • the difference between psychic and spirit
  • colour in mediumship
  • flower reading
  • reading stones and ribbons
  • learning to give one to one readings
  • help with presentation
  • help with platform presentation

By the end of the last run of classes, all of my students were able to give one to one readings.  Some of them are continuing their development in this next set of classes. I find it good to have a mixed group of varying abilities.

All are welcome and you will find dedication pays off, so please try to come regularly.  The only people this class is not suitable for is very experienced mediums. They would be bored.

If you would like any more information about these classes or about the experience that makes me  a good teacher: please email me at the link on this page.

Do pets go to spirit like humans do?  Well I believe they do.  Pets play a huge role in our lives and have a big impact on us. They teach us love and bring us companionship. They love us unconditionally.

During our material lifetime a lot of us will have pets at some point. If not our own, then we may learn to love or care for another’s. It may be a dog or a cat but can just as easily be something a bit more exotic.  My brother breeds birds of prey as well as dogs.

When a pet comes into your life it soon becomes one of the family. You love it and nurture in some of the ways you would a human baby. You nurse it through all its teething problems and shed a tear when it becomes ill.  Take it along to the vet and pay the bill when you cannot fix things yourself.

But sooner or later, there comes the time when you cannot do anything to prolong the life of your beloved pet.  Their life span is usually much shorter than the human one. It is always a sad time however the event occurs, but it will. You cannot prepare yourself for it anymore than you can prepare for a family passing.

The passing is heartbreaking and you wonder if you will ever get over it. But of course, with time, you will.  You will never forget and you will never stop loving but you will get over the sad event. You will begin to heal.

Your pet will wait for you in the spirit world and will be reunited with you when it is time for your transition.  You will carry on where you left off.  Meanwhile, be gentle with yourself and allow yourself time to grieve your loved ones passing.

With special thoughts and prayers to Pearl and Henry!

Spiritual healing is not the same as faith healing.  The person requiring the healing does not have to believe in order for the healing to take place. Nor does the person have to be religious in any way. You don’t have to be a Spiritualist either.

There have been lots of reports of babies, children and even animals,  who have benefited from spiritual healing, and no one ever asked them to believe.  How could they ask children and babies to believe in anything?  Let alone animals. And yet it is widely known that spiritual healing works on animals.

Spiritual healing may be hands on healing, or it can even be given in the absence of the recipient.  It is then referred to as absent healing. This can be done with or without the person’s knowledge, as it is non-invasive.  This is a widely used form of spirit healing.

I have an absent healing list on my web site as you may be aware.  Anyone who would like absent healing can email me their name, or the name of a loved one who needs healing. Each day the names are read out and healing is sent to them, in much the same way as healing is given on a one to one basis.

Lots of healers read the names on my healing list and send their healing thoughts and prayers out too.  We do get good results and the more  healers who send out their own healing energy to these people, the better.  Anyone who looks at the list can add to the healing energy by merely sending out your love.

For more information or advice on healing, or to send in the names of sick loved ones: please email me at the contact link on this page.

I feel it is important from time to time, to remind you that I do have a regular  ’Healing List’ on my website: www.barbarabiggin.com

People from all over the World send names of loved ones in need of healing, via my website email. These names are added to my healing list on my web site,  and there are healers around the world who send out absent healing to them on a regular basis.  There have been very positive results in many cases.

Thoughts are living things and along with your prayers they are carried on the cosmos to where they are needed.  It matters not if you are religious and if you are, it matters not where your religion takes you.

Suffice it to say that there is a higher source at work, and healing is possible through prayer and kind healing thoughts. Even when a persons time on this earth plane is coming to an end, healing can help ease the pain and the suffering of passing.

Names can remain on my list even when transition has taken place and they pass over to the brighter side of life, as I believe we can still give the Spirit, or soul, some healing vibrations to help with their transition to the higher side.  As well as to the grieving family.

Please keep sending in the names, those on the list will continue to receive our love and support every day.

My plea to Healers everywhere is to join in our events and believe that everything is possible.

‘Life After Life’ is a book by Raymond A Moody.  Dr Raymond Moody is a renowned psychiatrist and researcher, who is also a leading authority on near death experiences.  Dr Moody runs a research institute called The Theatre of the Mind in the USA.

This book first appeared in 1975 but has been revised and is available still in an anniversary edition.

I have long been interested in life after death, or near death, experiences.  For me it is these types of experience which help us to realise that there is more to us than this earthly existence.  Out of body experiences at the time of near death also give us an insight into what it might be like at the time of death.

This book quotes the experiences of lots of Americans at the time of their cardiac arrest, and other possible major life ending traumas.  There is a wide age range and people from all walks of life talk about their experience and emotional upheaval.

The most common thing to be mentioned is a ‘golden light’ (some say ‘white light’) appearing up high in the corner of the room.  This light making the person feel warm, peaceful and safe.  The light is often referred to as God or Lord.  There is a ‘knowing’ of words of comfort rather than a hearing.  It is towards this light that a person gravitates.

I personally understand the ‘knowing’ of words, as this happens when I am working mediumistically.  I am not though a person who has ever had these experiences.  My hubby suffered three cardiac arrests at the time of his heart attack, from which he recovered.  He is adamant that he had none of this type of experience.

Thousands have a near death without recalling any of these sorts of events, but thousands do recall events.  There are those who can induce out of body experiences without there being any trauma.  Many in this book have the events whilst on the operating table.

The book is very easy to read and to understand and I thoroughly recommend it to all with an interest in the beyond.   There are also follow ups to this publication of his.  Although extremely good, you may decide, as I have done, after reading three of them, that one of his books on this subject is enough. Good reading!

There are many types of psychic reader and many different kinds of people from all walks of life who have become psychic readers. Many of these are professional readers and an even larger number are amateur readers. Reading mostly for fun and the experience of it all.

Once you have developed your sixth sense, usually in an Awareness and Development class, you can then experiment with all manner of different ‘tools’ to help you with your craft. It can also make the whole experience of reading much more interesting for the sitters.

For instance, I love to work with colour. I use stones and ribbons to help with this. I offer the stones or ribbons to my sitter and ask them to choose some and then I hold them whilst I communicate with spirit. It becomes a personal experience altogether.

Some like to use psychometry which is a psychic tool. You hold an object belonging to the sitter and give off the information which you glean from the vibrations.  This can also be done with photographs but is still psychic.

If you are mediumistic, you should always strive to communicate with spirit as this is THE only way to prove life after death and that is what mediumship is for.

I am often asked this question and the main thing here is to realise that we never stop learning. Our development never ends, even when we take our transition back over to the spirit world. It is a continual evolvement.

We are never too developed to sit in a development class, as long as the teacher and the class has something to offer.  It is no good taking a backward step and attending a class where the ‘teacher’ knows less than yourself!

Attending workshops, where you can try other methods of working, or other styles of working, may be helpful to you.  You may also find it useful to attend seminars where highly experienced mediums give lectures. These are invaluable if you are really serious about your craft.

Don’t let your ego outgrow you. There is nothing more dreary than a medium whose ego no longer fits the hats!  None of us knows it all and we never will.

In my adult life I have had a varied career.  I have been a nurse, working at both adult and childrens’ hospitals.

I have been a hairdresser, studying full time at college before working in salons and then mobile.  I enjoyed entering, and winning on occasion, hairdressing competitions. It was great fun. There are trophies at college with my name on. Which makes me proud still!

I finished my everyday working life as a civil servant.  I retired early through health conditions. But this doesn’t mean I am idle.

During all this I found my sixth sense and decided to develop it. In fact I am still developing it. It is  never ending.  Along the way I have studied with lots of spiritualism’s finest. The creme de la creme of mediums and teachers.   I have been extremely lucky. I know spirit had things in store for me.

I still attend seminars and courses to improve myself, my teaching and my mediumship. I love my mediumship work.

I teach others in workshops, circles and anyway I can. I have become a writer and regularly share my views and knowledge on this blog and in magazines.

This is who I am and who I have become and how I have arrived here.  Spirit choose us to spread the word.  But most of all they choose us to help others. Whether this is to give proof of life after death or to help teach someone how to develop their own sixth sense.

It is this spiritual work and experience that is the most vital part of the teaching  circle. And I have 30 years of it. This is the vital part. This experience is essential.  You must be in control and have the experience to help those who cannot help themselves.

Spirit seem to choose those of us who don’t have an easy life.  It is important to understand suffering to be able to help those who are in need. Those whose life is seemingly a bed of roses don’t spend their time helping others, generally.

The ribbon and colour special which I did at Whitham Road SNU church in Sheffield last Saturday evening, was a success and I would like to thank all those who came along for their support.

There was a nice crowd there who had never seen work with colour before and they enjoyed it.  They also enjoyed the informality of the evening too.

Several people came to me afterwards to tell me how good there message was and to fill in the blanks for me, so that I could see how spirit had worked with them and myself. That was nice. Feedback is always good. Whether it be negative or positive. It is always good to know how it has all worked out.

I look forward to doing more colour specials and ribbon workshops in the near future and will keep you posted of the details. Keep watching my website for details.

As with most things in life, mediumship takes time to learn about and a long time to develop.  The more slowly you take it the better. It is not a race and more harm than good can be done by those in a hurry.

To try and leap up on the platform before you have mastered the open circle or psychic supper is utter folly.  You have to get to know yourself, your guides, your audiences.

You have to learn to put across spirit messages in a thoughtful ethical manner. You should be mindful of all the harm you can cause if you put a foot wrong. Tread carefully. Learn well.

Remember you have personal responsibility. You cannot blame spirit if you get it wrong. If you are not ready then go back to the development class until you are.
