Precognition, also called future sight, refers to perception that involves the acquisition or effect of future information that cannot be deduced from presently available and normally acquired sense-based information or laws of physics and/or nature.] The related terms, premonition and presentiment refer to information about future events that is perceived as emotions. The terms are usually used to denote a seemingly parapsychological or extrasensory process of perception, including clairvoyance. Psychological processes have also explained the phenomena.

As with other forms of extrasensory perception, the existence of precognition is not accepted by the mainstream scientific community, because no replicable demonstration has ever been achieved. Scientific investigation of extrasensory perception (ESP) is complicated by the definition which implies that the phenomena go against established principles of science.  Specifically, precognition would violate the principle that an effect cannot occur before its cause. However, there are established biases, affecting human memory and judgment of probability, that create convincing but false impressions of precognition. Quoted from Wikipedia

In a nutshell – seeing events before they actually happen. Some people seem to be able to see things occurring days, weeks and months before the event. There are plane crashes, yet to happen, detailed in documents by those who have this dubious gift.

Some say they see murders happen before they do but feel helpless as no one will believe them until it happens and then it may lead to them implicating themselves.

Bigger event such as earth quakes, volcano eruptions and massive tragedies are also viewed by some, powerless to stop the event and powerless to stop them self from seeing it.

In some cases it may just be small events which are closer to the viewer and may be concerned with family or friends.  These may be accidents but not aways.

Can we learn to control them?  I don’t know.  Maybe we are not meant to.  I can see cause for worry if it got out of hand.  If it was controlled and used for the wrong reasons who knows where it might lead.  Maybe it would be a bit like remote viewing, which could be used for anti peaceful means.

There are logical reasons why Spirit do not tell us the future and do not let mediums predict.  As always I look forward to your stories and your views.

Déjà vu – noun -  a feeling of having already experienced the present situation. (Oxford English Dictionary)

The feeling is often accompanied by a sense of familiarity, but also a sense of weirdness. Some describe it as a dream like state. There is usually a sense that this really happened before, in exactly the same way, just as though you were in a film and were re-running it.

It seems to be quite a common occurrence, one which usually gives you shivers down your spine.  I am keen to hear thoughts on this subject, but I have my own theory.  This happens to me a lot in my life.

I believe that we temporarily lose our knowledge when we come to this earth plane.  Although the knowledge we had is wiped from our memory for the duration of this earthly lifespan, sometimes, and only extremely briefly, it manages to spill over into our present existence.  Thus, the eerie experience.

We briefly remember something of what must have been a past earthly experience. Hence the thought of  ‘I have been here before’ or ‘ I have seen this beofore’!

It is a bit of a shock and leaves you thinking about it for a while and then you put it to the back of your mind. There it stays, where it is meant to stay.

When we get back home to the spirit world all will be revealed and we will understand why it all happened. Until then we just wonder at it all.

I am talking about Spiritualist Church Services here of course.  There are the Divine Sunday Services of course. All the churches have them and most begin at 6.30 Sunday evening.

There are also various circles during the week at most of them.  Open circles, closed circles and Awareness circles.

From time to time there are also fund raising events such as Psychic Suppers and Specials. Which brings me to my point. When is a special not a special.

Most churches have one Special evening per month to raise extra funds, and to have an experimental evening during which various techniques are demonstrated. This is great for dedicated spiritualists and the public alike. But only if it is ‘special’.

To me ‘special’ means it is not like the everyday type of event that I can attend anytime.  Special to me means something special.  Something that is different maybe or that I may not often get the chance to experience on a regular basis.

This may be: flower reading -  colour reading – sand reading – psychic art – photograph reading -  ribbon reading – transfiguration -  any form of physical mediumship – or a medium who is so good at giving life after death evidence that they are really hard to book. Now these are ‘Specials’!

It is no good advertising a ‘special’ when it is just a regular medium giving a regular platform demonstration.  Even though they may be very good at demonstrating their gift.

Workshops, where psychic gifts are nurtured, seem to be in short supply.  This is a shame as there are so many interested people out there who just cannot get enough.

Come on all you booking secretarys. Look for something different and lets all share in the experience!

As I mentioned some time ago, Clint Eastwood has been making an afterlife film. Its long awaited UK release is now upon us, 28 January,  and I for one cannot wait to see what he has done with the subject matter.  Here is a bit of info about it.

Directed by Clint Eastwood and Starring Matt Damon

Written By Warner Bros Pictures – Here is The Storyline

A drama centered on three people who are haunted by mortality in different ways. George (Damon) is a blue-collar American who has a special connection to the afterlife. On the other side of the world, Marie (de France), a French journalist, has a near-death experience that shakes her reality. And when Marcus (Frankie/George McLaren), a London schoolboy, loses the person closest to him, he desperately needs answers. Each on a path in search of the truth, their lives will intersect, forever changed by what they believe might-or must-exist in the hereafter.

Ghosts, poltergeists and naughty spirits are often said to trouble  people in their own homes.  I am often told stories about such events. The unknown scares people.  Once they know exactly what it is that is being a nuisance in their home they usually don’t mind so much.

There are differences between these phenomena. Lets take a look at ghosts first.  Ghosts are the images of people trapped in time, from the moment of their violent and unexpected death.  They are neither spirit nor people. Just images. You will know the difference because they are always seen in the same place, doing the same thing, at the same time of day or night.

Poltergeist. This is neither person nor spirit. It is psychic energy running amok because someone is building up the energy and not making good use of it. This is usually a person with a troubled mind. Often it is a pubescent and troubled child.  They don’t realise they are building up this psychic energy and often think they must be evil. Others around them may think the person is evil too.

Teaching the troubled person how to use up their psychic energy for a good reason is often all that is needed.  A little understanding from those around them helps too.

Naughty spirits!  Well, are they really naughty, or do they just want your attention?  Maybe a spirit loved one wants to communicate with you and you are oblivious to the fact. The spirit may try to move around objects and make noises in your home to make you aware of them.  Then maybe you will contact a medium and have a really much needed conversation.

So you see. All is not what it seems to be. But if you have any troubling occurrences in your home then please let me know.  Maybe I can help. You can email me at the contact ink at the top of this page.

Personal Responsibility is one of the Spiritualist movements Seven Principles.  There is no dogma or creed, just the 7 principles. They make good sense and can be found in full on the SNU website.

Personal Responsibility is not just for spiritualists. It is for everyone. We alone must take responsibility for all our deeds, good and not so good. Hopefully there are no bad ones as we are responsible for those too.

When our time comes to go home to the Spirit World, we will be rewarded for all our good deeds and have to atone for all our wrong doings. Does it make you think? It should.

If you believe in an eternal life for the spirit then surely it is in your own interests to not only live life to the full, but to live it in a good and proper manner.

We don’t have to be saints or sinners. We are here to live a material life and to learn from our mistakes, so we are not expected to be good all the time. But we are expected to understand the difference and to regret our misdeeds. This is part of our spirit’s evolution.

If we work for spirit, as in the church or being a medium, we have a bigger responsibility.  We have to help others to understand this principle. We should be setting an example when we are on the church platform. We should be honest in our spiritual work.

We should always give what we get in our communications with the spirit. Never take away and never add or distort the message we are receiving. It can change the message.  Never pretend that spirit can do things which we know they cannot. Never dramatise what is a natural gift.

Some of you may be forgiven for thinking that the psychic on the platform at your local spiritualist church, or hall, is an actor or actress.  Sadly this comes with the territory.  Some are just that, or at least use a bit of that.

You sit in your chair hoping that the medium speaking today will come to you and pass on a message from your loved ones in the spirit world.  One to make you believe that they are still watching over you.  You really want to believe there is life after death and a message would help you to make up your mind.

You expect the subject to be taken seriously, if not by the general public, then at least by the spiritualists.  Most spiritualists do take proving life after death very seriously.  That does not mean that they cannot be happy, or laugh and smile whilst they give proof.  There are some who can give proof whilst still be entertaining and amusing, without acting.

What you do not expect, is for the person on ‘stage’ or church platform, to behave in an unseemly manner and appearing to put on some sort of act.  This though is sadly sometimes what you get. I have witnessed many.

Sometimes, though not all times by any means, the medium on the platform will affect a stance that is not their usual.  This may take the form of implying that spirit are making them behave oddly.  Some will affect a limp or hold their hand and arm at a funny angle and say that their guide has a disability.  Their guide may well have had a disability whilst on the earth plain but certainly not in the spirit world.  They have no physical body once they have passed over.  There is no need for them to make the medium behave as if they had the same affliction!

Use your own intelligence here.  If it seems to you that a spirit would not make a medium look foolish by ‘making’ them hold their body in an odd way, then do not accept it.  Common sense usually prevails.

You have to understand that spirits do not have physical bodies.  They leave them behind when they take their transition to the higher side of life.  Therefore, they cannot possibly make any able bodied physical person do anything with their body.  It is purely showmanship. And, it is totally unnecessary.

Shockingly for me, the worst I have witnessed was the leader of an open circle behaving as if drunk.  She was falling around, swaying and flinging her arms about, whilst saying that the spirit who was coming through was forcing drink down her.  She insisted that the spirit was drunk and now she was drunk too because the spirit was giving her whiskey.  What a load of codswallop!  Whiskey in the spirit world! Would you have believed it?

You must always use your own intelligence to help you realise when you are being had.  Some do this on purpose and it is obvious as it is a regular occurrence.  Others are deluded into thinking they have to affect these positions.  What utter nonsense!

Spirit would never, ever,  make a medium look foolish. What would be the gain?   The only person who can do that is the supposed ‘psychic’.  Please be discerning.  You should be able to spot when showmanship is happening if you just use common sense.

When you hear the crowds coming out of church or the theatre, saying things like  ‘Oh what a laugh, wasn’t it good’.  Ask yourself,  was it music hall type good or was there really good evidence of survival of the spirit.  Remember, laughter can, and often does, go hand in hand with spirit work.  This is acceptable.  Showmanship and lies are not.

Jan 17

If you are looking for proof of survival of the spirit, a medium is what you need. Choose with care. You do not want a cold reader or a psychic. There is a big difference who if you want to hear from your ‘dead’ relatives.

The difference between the medium’s message and the cold readers message is great.  A medium has to give lots of unique evidence.  It has to be a collection of things which the sitter and their family can uniquely place with their spirit loved one.

Generalisations such as ‘a man who had a heart attack’ or ‘a woman who had trouble with her legs’, do not constitute, in themselves, proof of anything.  If you give unique proof and also include the man and woman, then it is good. All the information given has to come together to build up the jigsaw puzzle.

Cold readers cannot possibly match this unique evidence and you need to be aware of this if you decide to have a private reading.

Look upon a sitting as being told a story. A story that, when it all comes together,  only fits you, your family, and your friends as a whole. Some others may be able to take parts of the message, as with the above mentioned man and woman, but only you should be able to understand the full story.

We all know a John and a David, so too a Gill and a Carol. We all know of someone who passed with a heart attack or a lung disease.  But put these into your unique set of circumstances and it makes all the difference.

If the John passed with lung disease and you are told he also lived on a farm and was connected to Mary, who just happens to be your mother, then this is unique to you. These are not details which a cold reader would come up with, nor indeed a psychic reader.

What makes the medium’s message so special is that the information comes from spirits and the spirit world; from your loved ones who have crossed over. They lived in your unique life and therefore know all about your circumstances. This also makes them able to offer advice on your current problems.

Beware of cold readers and those, maybe at an open circle,  who may have heard your story from someone.

Jan 15

When a loved one passes over to the higher side of life it is very hard for us who love them. We miss their presence, their scent, their whole being.

Our loved one may have been suffering terrible pain and misery. We don’t want that. We don’t want them to keep on suffering, but it is so hard to let go. We grieve for them.

We pray and ask for them to stay. Maybe it sounds a little selfish but we love them. No, we don’t want them to be in pain and suffering but, we cannot bear to lose them form our midst.

How do we mourn and get through our day to day lives?

First we need to understand life and death.  We know we are all Spirits through and through.  On this material plane or in the Spirit World, we are still spirit. That never changes.  What does change is the place where our spirit dwells. We have an earthly body here which we discard when we go back home to spirit.

We all come from the Spirit World. We come here to the material plane to live a material life and allow our spirit to evolve.  We do not know how long our time on Earth will last.  We only know that we have an allotted time, and when that time is up we go back home.

We continue to evolve in the Spirit World. But, when another loved one arrives back home, we go to meet and greet them. We appear in the guise of our material life so that our loved ones will recognise us. This helps them to settle in back home once more.

Like it or not, it is really a case of happiness and sadness. When we leave the Spirit World to come here, our loved ones will be sad and will miss us. When we arrive on Earth, our loved ones rejoice but the are sad when our time comes to go back to Spirit.

We have a purpose. This purpose takes us from one realm to another. We continue to evolve and we all know it is our purpose. Whilst we are living a material life, we forget where we came from. This is because our knowledge would affect the way we live our earthly life. It could impair our journey.

We have to get from A to B with our own free will. But our choice of time is not an option. So remember when you are mourning,  your loved one will now be safe on the Higher Side of Life. They will be continuing their journey of evolvement and you will all meet again once more on the other side.

They are on their Spiritual pathway. As are we all. We can still feel their presence sometimes, and my be able to receive communication from them via a medium.  We have our memories of them and our life spent together. They are a joy we will never lose. And we will never lose our link with their Spirit. EVER!
