This article is not to explain what spirit guides and guardian angels are, and what they do.  This is to dispel some myths about them.

It is thought, by those who are new to the spiritualist arena, that guides are always visible to anyone who is a medium.  It is also thought, that a medium always knows when their guide, or guides, are there.

In my opinion, there are too many people in open circles and from platforms, giving out guides, willy-nilly.  If we were to believe them all, and take them all, we would want more than a carrier bag to ‘take them with us’!

The number of times I have been ‘given’ nuns, Native American Indians, Gypsies, Monks, and the famous!  It is as though, if they have nothing else to give you a guide will do!

When I hear someone reel off all the different guides they are said to have, and tell me that they all visit them when they are asleep, I worry that they are far too gullible.

We all have a door keeper, our main guide.  We also have guides who come to help us from time to time, when they are needed for their wisdom.  There also are inspires, who come close when we need to be inspired.

We are not always aware of their presence. We don’t need to be. Suffice to say we are lucky to have them around us.  We may be working in a circle and giving messages but we don’t have to be aware of our guides.  The guide will still give us messages and information to convey.

When a medium stands on the church platform, they are not always aware of a guide. Their doorkeeper will be there, to keep them safe and to protect them,  but the medium may not see them.

I really feel we have to get to know our guides by our self. It is no good someone telling me they see a nun with me or a gypsy. I need to find out for myself.

My advice to you is: meditate, for that is how to get to know your guides and how to learn to work with them.  You need to build up a partnership of trust. There has to be trust, so that when you get up to give a message from spirit, you know it truly is from spirit.

If you are given guides in messages, either wait until you have been given the same information aobut them at least 3 times. By three different mediums. Or, until you have seen them yourself in meditation, or otherwise. Then you can be sure they are guides.

Your guide may not be one of the popular type – popular only because they are given all the time.  You probably have a guide who is so highly developed that they don’t have to show any form of dress to be recognised.  Remember, we don’t take earthly bodies to the spirit world.

I am sorry but I have had to cancel tonight’s Awareness and Development Circle.  The weather is really bad with snow everywhere.

My street is barely passable. My son went down into the village and it took one and half hours to get back up the road with the car.  I wouldn’t want anyone to be stuck and not be able to make it home tonight.  It is snowing quite heavily right now too.

Hopefully we will be together again next Tuesday, God and the weather willing.  In the meantime if you have nothing else to do tonight here is my suggestion:

Go into a quiet place and put on some relaxing music. Open up and sit in the power.  Direct all the energy – which you build up – as healing, either for someone you know or for those on my healing list. Your evening will not be wasted.

See you next week!

The answer to this is definitely yes!  You have to understand the reality of it all for it to make sense.

We ALL are Spirit.  We belong in the Spirit World. We live in the Spirit World.  We do not need earthly bodies in the Spirit World. Only here on earth do we need them.

When we choose to come to Earth, we have a Spirit Guide to bring us here and to stay with us until our time is up and we can go back home, to the Spirit World.

When we are materially conceived, we have a body. This body is ours until we go back home and no longer need it.  Even as a very tiny human being in our Mother’s womb, we have a material body.

If this tiny body breaks down, the spirit of the baby automatically goes straight back to their home in the Spirit World.  They will remain there and welcome their loved ones, including their mother, when they themselves, at last return home.

The child’s body does not grow up. They will still appear the same when they are seen by loved ones.  Their body is left here to be interred or cremated.

If you are afraid that you will not recognise your ‘lost’ child when you get to the Spirit World, don’t be.  Your child will be just the same as when they passed over. You will be reunited with a common purpose.  Your spirits will grow on and evolve. You will progress together.

If you are afraid about this subject, please contact me at the email link above.

Well, as a medium this disappointed. If you are a sci-fi fan then you will have enjoyed it.

Like a lot of films lately, this had to end with a battle against good and evil. Lots of violence and eerie creatures.  Vaguely reflecting the original plot but with lots of poetic license.

It’s a shame really. They could have ended it with a bit of mediums normality, instead of taking it to the extreme of paranormal, as they perceive it.

The weird child Melinda gave birth to, when he was already about 8 years old, helped his mother overcome the shadows, with a little help from the ‘shineys’!

To the producers of the programme, shadows are bad spirits who are earth bound. Shinies are good child spirits who are not earth bound.  Either way they were all earth bound in this final episode.

It was so melodramatic and not like reality at all.  Maybe now, people who were afraid of shadows can laugh at them.  And the shineys, well, who knows!

I believe the reality of shadows is that sometimes people think they have just seen a shadow move swiftly out of sight.  This may well be spirit trying to attract their attention. Because either they are not mediumistic or not developed enough to see them properly. They are certainly not to be afraid of.

This final version was pure sci-fi! The writer totally missed their opportunity here!  This is my own belief and i am as usual only too happy to hear your own views. Please email me them at the contact link above.

This weeks colour and ribbon evening went extremely well.  There were some very good results.  All the students were able to give readings to at least 3 people during the evening of development.

Some of the students were really drawn to the colours and the ribbons, whilst some of them realised that they enjoyed using the stones more. That’s good progress for them.  If you recall, we used stone reading a couple of weeks ago for 2 evenings.

As they have progressed through the weeks, each one of them is finding their own way and their own style.   Most of the students are now very comfortable giving readings.  Ask them if they expected to get results so soon and most would tell you it came as a great surprise.

The ones who progress the most will always  be the dedicated ones who come week after week and feel they just can’t get enough of it!  Dedication always pays off.  Lots of practice helps too.  There is such a lot to learn.

We have another 3 Tuesdays before the end of year break. We are closing the circle after the Tuesday 14th December until Tuesday the 8th March 2011.  Just my Development Class, not the church itself.

The church is open as normal, apart from the usual short Christmas break.  See: http://www.whithamroad.co.uk/index.html for information about the church itself.

On March the 8th, everyone will be welcome to join us when my Development Circle begins again, whatever stage of development you are at.  If you would like more information about my circle, please email me at the contact link on this page.

At this time the only Development Circle I am running is the one at Whitham Road SNU in Sheffield.  From time to time I also run Workshops at various places and sometimes I run private development classes. Watch my website for news on this. WWW.BarbaraBiggin.com

If you want to learn more about Spiritualism, psychics, mediums and the paranormal, what better place to begin than a Spiritualist Church!

Take the Sunday Divine service.  At most churches this begins at 6.30 and lasts about one and a half hours.  There is no priest or vicar. You get a medium and a chairperson.

Hymns are sung and prayers are said. There is also a reading of the Healing List and a reading taken from a book. This may be poetry or philosophy.

The medium gives a philosophical talk rather than a sermon. And, the medium demonstrates the gifts which have been given to them. They attempt to prove life after death by giving a few members of the congregation a spiritual message.

If you are wanting to develop your own psychic and mediumistic ability, what better place to see examples.  You need examples so that you become aware of what is expected of a medium.  No self respecting novice will miss a chance to see a professional medium work.

Try a service this Sunday and enjoy it!

At the circle this evening I am teaching my students about colour and how to read ribbons.

Colour is very important when working with spirit.  You build up a partnership with your guide and they will forever know what colours to show you in order to get their message across.

It is important not to use the ribbons as psychometry. It would be a waste of the colour.  Besides, psychometry only picks up on day to day events and conversations, it cannot  give messages from spirit.

When using colour spirit know just what colours to show you because they understand how your mind works.  They bring in things which are not only a memory of someone in the spirit world, but are also a sign of what is relevant to you.

Try working with spirit and colour. It is very spiritually rewarding.  If you are in the Sheffield area then why not pop in and try our circle for yourselves. We have a lovely and gifted group who will make you welcome.

Are you developing your psychic ability?  Did you realise that not all psychic become mediums?  Some enjoy working psychically and are happy to remain doing just that. Whilst others have a yen to develop mediumship and work with a higher source.

If you work psychically, which all of us can do with development and practice, you are getting the inforamtion from the recipeients aura.  From them really, and the aura around them.  It is everyday stuff you pick up like – whatever they are involved with at the moment and things going on around them on a day to day basis.

To work as a medium, with the spirit world as your communicator, you have to develop your psychic ability to a much greater degree.  You have to be far more dedicated and far more discerning.  Not everyone has this gift and most have to content themselves with their psychic ability. This being no bad thing.

My advice for would be mediums is:  sit every week, at the very least, with a good teacher – be a dedicated developer – be honest above all and practice practice practice!

Remember though, it is not a game, nor indeed, entertainment. It is not a way to get rich quick, or in fact, get rich at all. If you wish to make big money then this is probably not the life for you.  It is very hard work and you will find yourself always wanting to be better.  A mediums life is always developing!

Obviously you can find demonstrations of mediumship at local Spiritualist churches.  These are often collection/donation events. When it is a special event there may be a small charge.  Attending a church is usually the less costly option for watching a medium work.  In any event you are not guaranteed a message.

There are now many evenings of clairvoyance in public halls, at theatres, and even in pubs and clubs. There are quite a few of these which are held for charitable reasons, to raise money for worthy causes. Most spiritual mediums give their time free of charge at such events.

These are great places to go and see just what goes on and see for yourself that there is nothing spooky or scary about mediums at all. Well, I can speak for some!

There is sometimes more than one medium in attendance and you may find that one of them has a good night, but the other doesn’t. They may well both be good, but sometimes material conditions are not always conducive to mediumship.

You must remember that such events are somewhat of an experiment as it is impossible for mediums to summon up spirits at will. The time of the old style mediums who used to name drop and imply they could call up anyone, famous or otherwise, are, hopefully, in the past.

We must be honest if we are to find the truth.
