Mediumship and Beyond

The term ‘closed circle’,  is sometimes puzzling to novices and newcomers to the psychic world. There is a simple explanation.

In the spiritualist and psychic world, everyone sits in circles.  The idea being that a circle has no beginning and no end.  Also, in a circle everyone can be seen by each other.  And, the psychic energy which builds up can be better utilised in a circle.

The open circle is the most well known of psychic circles. Followed by the development circle.  At spiritualist churches these are usually open to all.

A closed circle is just that, closed to all except those who are invited.  These closed circles often take place in private homes, but can also take place in church.  In church, closed circles are often for members only.

The beauty of the circles being closed, is that the leader of the circle has more control over what takes place.  Novices will often find that they have to prove them self,  in order to get an invite.

Closed circles are usually held to serve a particular purpose.  In tomorrows post I will discuss these purposes.

Have you ever sat alone in your home convinced that you were not truly alone? Have you thought you felt the presence of another? Did you think you heard your name called out?  This is not at all unusual.

Have you been so sure you are not alone, that you have looked behind doors and under the bed before going to sleep?  Did you assume your house was haunted or that a ghost must be following you around? Again, this is not at all unusual.

What is unusual, is for a person to think that may be, just maybe, a spirit loved one is trying to let them know of their close proximity to them.

Why does it have to be a ghost?  Too much TV and scary films seem to have brain washed the general public.  Our homes are not all haunted by ghosts who are looking for retribution.  Ghosts don’t all go around rattling chains to scare people.

The simplest answer to hearing your name being called out and feeling the presence of someone, is that your loved ones in the spirit world have come to let you know they are watching over you.

They are not ghosts.  They are just the same spirits as they were when they were here on this earth plane.  The only difference now, is that they are total spirit and have no need for the physical body.

Yes, spirit can come back for visits to friends and family.  Spirits come to make them feel their love. Spirits don’t come back to haunt loved ones or anyone else for that matter.

A ghost is different.  A ghost is just an image trapped in time.  An image that seems to go through the same process over and over again.  It often follows a violent or tragic passing.  An image cannot hurt you, or indeed, do anything to you at all.

Enjoy the visits of your spirit loved ones. Cherish them.  If you need help to find out exactly which spirit it is, you can call on a medium.  As always, make sure it is one who is recommended to you.

The latest series of Medium is very interesting and it always surprises me in some way.  I like the way the children have a ‘knowing’ and that the eldest daughter is mediumistic too.

The show has great potential to do the world of the paranormal some good.  It is not too fairy tale like.  There is always some realism. That is what is missing from most psychic TV.

I suppose it is more real because the heroine is based on a real person and not just a fictional character.  Although I do understand there is a lot of poetic license taken.

We do have mediums in England who work with the police but I suspect that most authorities scorn the idea that a medium just might be able to help with their cases.

We have the charlatans to thank for that.  How can we be believed when there are so many charlatans stepping forward. We mediums have to step up our game several notches so that even the totally non believers start to think anew!

Apart from my spiritual and mediumistic work, I like to practice Graphology.  Graphology is hand writing analysis.  There is not much about a person that you cannot find out through their writing.  There is nothing psychic about the subject, it is purely scientific.

I am usually sent one sheet of plain paper which has been written on by the person wanting the analysis.  I then begin many hours of measuring and studying the page.

It is not just the writing and the style, but also the pressure of the pen on paper and the impression it makes.  The pattern of the flow and speed are also taken into account.

To give you a short explanation, analysing writing is like analysing body language.  Only the writing is the body.  The way it leans and the space it takes up.  The pride with which it stands or the way it huddles itself up.

Your roots are their to be seen and in fact everything, down to sexual orientation may show up on the one page.  It can be considered a snap shot of you present life.  I emphasise present as our writing does change over time.  it changes as we change.

Take a look at a sample of your handwriting from a few years ago and then look at today’s sample. I am sure you will see lots of change.  Even your signature changes over time, albeit marginally.

By Third Person, I mean someone else you know, or maybe another  member  of your family.  Can you be given a message for someone else to pass on, whilst having a reading?   This is what I have been asked.

Sometimes a spirit entity wants to get communication across to a loved one for a particular reason.  There may be a special reason like illness or trouble within the family.

The spirit may have been trying to get through to the person with any luck. Therefore, they will use as many chances as possible to communicate with them.

This may entail using a third person.  You may go for a reading, either private or in a church and expect a message for yourself.  During your message, information that appears to be for someone else may come through.

You will need specific information to be certain it is for this third person.  There should be something in your message which convinces you. Then you can pass on the communication without hesitation.

It is not always possible for spirit to get through to the exact person they need.  However hard they try sometimes has to be this way.

By the same token, you may go for a reading hoping a particular loved one comes through.  This loved one may not manage to get through to you personally for whatever reason.  It is then that another spirit loved one will pass on the communication by proxy.

Spirit are determined to watch over us and keep in touch with us and will try whatever means they can to prove there is life after death of the physical body.

The new Ghost Hunting trio are upon us. Or more to the point, on TV yet again, and encroaching into the paranormal world.  Not that any of them has the talent for it.

I tried to watch some and found it excruciatingly dreadful!  At least the overstuffed one did keep telling the others she could not hear what they said they could hear.  That was the only saving grace.  As for their Ouija board attempt!!!!

It amuses me to see Ms F trying to make us believe she is a paranormal expert now.  Send her back to Blue Peter and leave our world alone please.  We are tarred with the same brush and the public think we are all gullible crackpots. We have a hard enough time as it is. I won’t be watching again.

When money and ratings are at stake some will say anything.  Why do people who have no cred in the paranormal world decide to try and make money from it.  Surely there are other things they could get away with doing.

If Living TV want to make credible paranormal programmes, they ought to seek out proper, proven, mediums of good repute. Plenty can be found through the SNU.  And please, don’t try mixing in a few presenters who are ignorant.

In the meantime just remember that the programme will not last long if no one watches!

There are many spiritualist churches who don’t seem to advertise their events.  If you are not in the know about churches it can be quite difficult to find an event to go to.

Local rags and city papers can be expensive but you can always put a poster in local shops.  In my City paper there is a ‘Whats On’,  column which is ideal for this purpose.

In order to make the most of your events, especially if they are not the ordinary weekly events, you need to advertise in some way.  If you have a workshop coming up, there may be those out of your area who would like to attend.

Personally, I have travelled miles to attend a good seminar or workshop.  Also for charity events.  People need to know.  You cannot just expect people to turn up in the hope you may have something on.

The short answer to the above question, in my personal experience, is no!  Not rich with money.  But my life is much richer for working with spirit and helping the bereaved.

I have not met a wealthy medium.  The ones I know are working for spirit and money is not top of their list.  You learn to put spirit and people first.  After all, mediumship is a spiritual gift.

Yes we have to live, and like everyone else we need to make ends meet.  Most of us find that we usually have enough.  When things are looking glum something usually turns up.

Mediumship, along with my family of course, is my life.  When one suffers the other usually does.  It is very difficult to concentrate on spirit when your mind is in a whirl.  And it needs to be said that if your mind is not at its best, you should not practice your mediumship.

If you are depressed or ill then just meditate and ask for healing and leave your clairvoyance or clairaudience until you are really better.  Enjoy your gift but be sensible!

To answer this question, you need to try to understand the workings of mediumship. 

Mediumship is a person acting as a go between.   Between spirit entities and humans.  The medium acts as the 3rd person, passing on the information from the spirit to the human.

When working as a medium you have to learn to lift your consciousness to a higher level.  This is so that you can pick up the communication coming from spirit.  It is not easy to do if you cannot reach higher.  It is impossible to do if your mind is full.

Your mind is always working.  It has to be unless you are dead.  It is part of the human makeup.  So there is no way you can empty your mind and stop it working.  That is why you need to go to the higher level.  Your mind is still there but what is coming in feels different.

If you know someone very well, as with a relative, you have in your mind all the things you know about them.  It is impossible to cut them out.  Therefore, they get in your way.

You need to form a channel for the spirit communication to come through. if it is already blocked with prior knowledge, then you cannot differentiate the info coming from spirit to that coming from your own mind.

The best mediumship comes about when neither sitter nor medium know each other.

Sitting to tune in for psychic circle or private reading, is a must for mediums who want to communicate with the spirit world.  It helps calm your mind and prepare you to reach for a higher level of consciousness.  It is on that level that spirit can come to you and communicate survival evidence.

Survival evidence is the cornerstone of a mediums work and the spiritualist movement too.  Without it, mediumship would be pointless.

On the other hand, when you are sitting for yourself, and an improvement in your own develpment, you need to be able to build up, and sit in, the power.  The power being the energy with which a medium and spirit can communicate. 

To build up this energy you must devote time to yourself and your guides and spirit helpers.  There has to be a regular coming together.  This is not a selfish act, this is a must if you are to continue to develop your gifts.

You need a quiet place with a door that you can lock.  A phone you can switch off.  Gentle music which you can play.  A comfy place to sit and relax.  At least an hour to spare without interruption.  You need to make regular time for yourself.

Turn on your music and get comfy.  Relax by taking deep breaths and watch your breathing, whilst in your mind you go to your spiritual home.

 Don’t try to get messages or communication. Just aim to be at one and at peace.  Feel the energy as it builds and understand what is happening.  Let the energy spread over you and become part of it.  Stay in their state whilst you are feeling comfy and then allow yourself to draw back and become aware of your surroundings.

Feel your feet firmly fixed on the ground and let the psychi energy ebb away.  You should feel elated and calm.  Stay with the feeling and enjoy!

You may not be aware that anything has changed, but be assured that the more me time you take as a medium, the more spirit energy you can build up.   I hope this helps you and look forward to reading your experiences. More on this subject in a future post.
