I have just been looking on a forum site.  I found the link via google whilst looking for someone.  The forum happens to be from my home town so I read a bit of it, the part that was about mediums!

Someone had asked if any other user knew of a good clairvoyant whom they would recommend.  The responses were very mixed.  Some showed mild interest and others repugnance.

What surprised me most was how many had been to see the same one and paid £30.  Lets call her Y.  Most said she was less than useless,  (even though she rang you back straight away and recorded the tarot reading for you)  whatever that meant!

One actually said that she was one of two sisters who went to consult Y together. Both thought she was ok until they sat and listened to each others taped readings later on.  She said they were identical readings!  And, neither had any truth to them either.

Some thought that if you paid only a little you should not expect a good reading.  If the fee was £30 plus they thought they would be good, and better than a cheaper one.  It seems you are only as good as you charge in some minds.

It is all down to people’s perception.  A reading is good if you are given an honest reading and if the medium has proved life after death to you by bringing evidence from spirit to prove it.

Most startling was the animosity shown by some members.  They say good mediumship is an oxymoron.  They do not believe there can be any who tell the truth.  What a liberty without having tried it.  Guilty without a trial!

As you know I am not a fan of the ‘most haunted’  TVprogramme.  I think it is far too over dramatic and of little value to either the spiritualist world or the science of the paranormal.  Too many OTT people have featured in it and as far as proof goes it has been useless.

Friends and acquaintances tell me they watch it for a good laugh!  Says it all!

Does it teach us anything? Well I think it teaches us that it should not be an old presenter of a children’s programme who presents a programme which has a subject that is so complex.

I was delighted to read that Ms Fielding is leaving the programme, but both saddened and alarmed to read that she is to (and I quote Yahoo News here)  …..’carry on her quest to find paranormal activity on other channels taking investigations further than ever before and extending on what she has already done!’  God help us all.

Ms Fielding let loose on the paranormal world!  More actors needed maybe? Watch this space or any ads run by Ms Fielding’s team of …….

Please can we have a proper programme, run by well informed and talented - not in acting –  mediums?  True mediums!  There are also some scientists who are not out to make mediums look stupid, but who wish to find the truth about mediums and the paranormal. Not all bad.

First I think we should put out own house in order.  A piece of paper and a few letters to your name, supplied by the SNU, do not a medium make.  Do not a healer make.  There are those out there with certificates and letters but no gift or ability to prove life after death or any empathy and compassion to heal.

First and foremost,  we need good honest talented mediums, who wish to prove life after death to the unbelievers.  Mediums who are not in it for either glory or money.  Humble mediums who have a God given gift that is worth investigating, so that others may wish to develop their gifts too.

None of the cold reading con men need apply.  A medium’s gift is easy to prove.  Just give them the right opportunity.  As usual, I look forward to your thoughts and comments.

The open circle is a great place for a medium or psychic to practice their psychic ability.  It is much less formal than the Divine service or other church events.

What usually happens is that people come along and sit in a circle. Sometimes the circles can get very big.  It depends on the popularity of the church.  Any novice or experienced psychic worker or medium can sit in the circle.

Usually a prayer is said, and sometimes a hymn to open the service.  The leader of the group will then tell the circle they are all welcome and invite them to work within the circle.

If you are new to this sort of circle you may wonder what to do.  If you are a sitter then just relax in the circle and wait to see if you get a message.  If you are a worker, simply relax and open up the way you have been taught.  Let your consciousness move to a higher level so that spirit can get through to you.  Then wait for your spirit link.

Once you have a link with spirit you need to know who it is for.  Unless you have a really great relationship with a guide who tells you who to go to, you need to look around the circle.  I used to find that letting my eyes drift around the circle until I felt my gaze lift and pause, was a good way to find my recipient.

Your guide will inspire your gaze to stop at or near the correct sitter.  If you work with colour then your guide may show you a colour to look for. Once you feel you are with the right person, you are ready to work.

Wait until there is no other medium on their feet and then get up.  Ask the person who you have been led to if you may come to them, or talk with them. Stay standing in front of your seat. It is frowned upon to walk across the circle or to go and stand by a sitter. When they say yes (usually) you can begin passing on the communication.

Give your message clearly and wait for responses.  It is so annoying when mediums keep going and don’t give the sitter chance to say yes or no.  If it is yes then all well and good. If the answer is no then you need to work to get the right answer.  The ball is in your court and it is your responsibility.

When you have finished your message you may say ‘I will leave you now’,  or something else that you feel will indicate that the message is over.  You can sit down and let spirit come to you with another spirit link and message.

It can be difficult if you get a person who tries to take every message that is given. It may seem odd to you but most churches have a person like this.  They will shout up ‘I think you are with me’, or some similar phrase.  You have to stand your ground and carry on if you are sure you have the right link.

Don’t worry too much if you get  a link which you cannot place. Not everyone likes to speak up in public.  Thank spirit and move on.

Don’t forget to close down and ground yourself before leaving the circle.  Enjoy!

We are very lucky in good old Great Britain.  We have lots of places of learning for would be psychic and spiritual mediums.  People come from all over the world to gain knowledge from our wealth of specialised tutors.

Firstly there are the many churches offering development circles and workshops.  The circles are great for learning the basics and the workshops are great for furthering your skills and trying out new ways of tuning in to spirit.  They are all so wonderful places to meet like minded people.

There are well run seminars country wide and of course there is the spiritualists college.  The Arthur Findlay College, at Stansted, England,  is a place of learning for mediums and healers.  They have a wide range of courses run by some good tutors.  You may wish to check out the tutors credentials though as they are not all good.

Some of the tutors, in my experience,  seem to get places because of who they know, rather than what they know. So, as usual I advice you to get recommendations from friends who have been.  Better to learn before hand as it is quite expensive to go there, so you don’t want to be disappointed.

Ego often gets in the way, I find,  once they are asked to tutor at Stansted.  Some of them can be quite high and mighty.  The best ones are still quite humble and their egos are kept in place.  You can soon tell which they are.  The ones who are popular get booked up very quickly, sometimes a year in advance.

For those who cannot afford Stansted there are still plenty of workshops.  Keep in touch with those at your local spiritualist church for info on anything that is up and coming.

From time to time I tell my readers of events.

I am in a very sunny Great Yarmouth this week.  Having a nice break,  but thought I might visit a local Spiritualist church whilst I am in the area.

It is so hot that I thought a cool evening or afternoon in church would do me good.  How sad to find that there are not that manyaround,  and the ones that do exist seem to only open at the weekend for divine service.

Not that I don’t like divine service, I do.  But we are off home on Friday evening, so I won’t be visiting after all.

I was given a number to ring by the hotel staff and a nice lady at the other end told me that I would find it difficult to find a church open, and that their particular church only opened at the weekend in the evening.

I think they are missing out on the many people who would love to get involved in Spiritualism in the area.  I have looked on the SNU site but really there are only a couple in Norfolk, one of them being in Norwich.

So, if you live in Norfolk and are a spiritualist, get together as a group and see what you can do.  Good luck.

You have, maybe, never thought about being psychic.  You have shown little than a passing interest in the occult or the psychics world.  Maybe you don’t believe in the paranormal or mediums and such.  And have never been interested in Spiritualism.

Recently you have noticed that you seem to be more aware of things.  Your instinct seems to be working better and your judgement is more instinctual than logical. You have always used logic before and think maybe you are getting a little too soft and not taking things as seriously as usual.

You seem to keep hearing your name being called but there is never anyone there.  You could swear you saw someone  yonder but there is no one there.

These are some of the things that my sitters often tell me after their reading.  They are wanting to know what it all means.  They are wondering,  ‘just slightly’, if they may actually be becoming psychic.

As I have often said, we all have the ability to be psychic. Some of us though never have the inclination.

When all the above begins to happen,  it is because you are now becoming aware of you sixth sense.  It is coming to the fore so that you can start to use it. You can ignore it all if you wish but these things happen for a reason.

It is your time to develop your psychic ability.  All you need is the know how.  You will find plenty of information on this blog to help you develop and to find a teacher.

Please email me at the link above if you need help with any of it.

Why is it that some people are terrified of seeing a spirit or a ghost.  Is it because they know nothing about the subject and therefore think they can be harmed, or worse?

I am often told by a terrified sitter,  that  a ghost is following them around.  More puzzling is that they complain that their dead granny is appearing in their presence!  Why are they afraid of a dead loved one?

I think sometimes ignorance is bliss, but in this case it is detrimental. Dead loved ones are not going to come back to scare or harm you.  Why would they.  More importantly, they cannot harm you, they have no body and no physical presence.

What you have to remember is that when a persson dies and passes over to the higher side of life, they have to leave their physical body behind.  The spirit moves to the spirit world, for that is where spirits live.  The body is now dead and must be cremated or buried.

So you see, there is  nothing physical with which to attack or harm you.  Even if they wanted to.  In the spirit world we have to atone for all wrong doings.  We cannot do that by coming back to the earth plane and doing bad things.

If a spirit shows them self to me, I feel honoured.  I am more than delighted to see them, communicate with them, and be the medium between them and their loved ones here on the earth plane.  What a joy!  Besides, loved ones come back to help guide and comfort us in our troubled times.

So, if you start seeing spirits, don’t be afraid.  Get help to understand it and deal with it.  You might find that you enjoy it too.

Spiritual music, not hymns and psalms.  By spiritual music I mean songs and music written for and inspired by the dead.  Usually the famous dead.

Grief can bring out the spiritual and artistic in many people.  Writing music and lyrics whilst in mourning for someone can bring out great compassion and emotion.

Elton John and Bernie Taupin spring to mind here.  I like their writing styles personally,  and sometimes the emotion and compassion which comes from their songs is over whelming.

Take first the song which was reworded for Princess Diana, upon her untimely death.  Bernie Taupin amended the words to fit the occasion and Elton sang ‘Goodbye England Rose’, at her funeral.  It was his one and only performance of that particular song.  He cannot bear to sing that particular version again.

‘Goodby Norma Jean’ was origainlly written about the passing of Marilyn Monroe.  The words were both spiritual and moving and the music added to the emotion.

You may not be aware of  ‘Empty Garden’, unless you are an Elton John fan, as it is on the ‘Jump Up’  album from the early 80s and was never made into a single. He does not usually sing it on stage, though he did sing it at Madison Square Garden as a tribute.

Empty Garden is about the death of John Lennon. He and EJ were friends.  The words and music are both full of emotion and compassion.  I can listen to it over and over without getting tired of it.  I find it very moving and very spiritual.

It is easy to think of BT and EJ as rock and roll hard guys.  Bernie is a poet and Elton a fantastic singer and entertainer.  Above all,  I think they are spiritual human beings. Full of compassion.

I truly hope that one day in the, hopefully  far distant future,  someone can do them both justice, by producing such a tribute as they have done for others.

In my own personal opinion, I believe Elvis was a very spiritual man.  He spread so much love during his life and does not deserve the criticism that is sent his way.

Elvis was brought up on gospel music and still sang gospel songs in breaks from rehearsals for his big shows.  He has a wonderful album ‘His Hand In Mine’ which consists of spiritual songs.  I like a lot of them and love a few.  Peace in the Valley being one of them.

When Elvis made his televised TV programme, The 68 Comeback Special, I was wowed by all of it.  One song in particular stood out for me though.  Right at the end of the show, Elvis stood immaculately dressed in a white suit and belted out the brilliant ‘If I Can Dream’.

If I Can Dream is a very spiritual song with great  lyrics and wonderfully moving music.  Elvis sang his heart out.  I will never forget the song or the moment, and now I often play it at the start of my workshops or circles.

I don’t think it has ever been made into a single, or if it is on any other Elvis albums, but it is worth searching around for it and listening to.  Try itunes.  You won’t regret it.

If you have decided to develop your psychic and spiritual gifts, you should do so safely; certain in the knowledge that your teacher is equipped with enough know-how to help you. They should, hopefully, have years of experience as a medium. Unfortunately, there are lots of people getting involved in running circles who do not possess the skills to do so, or the experience which is vital to safety.

Sadly, I have attended some church circles where the person leading the development group is not a medium. In fact, some group leaders have very little knowledge of both Spiritualism and mediumship – some not even knowing the difference between psychics and mediums. This is the very basics of what you should be demanding.

Often there is no one else willing to run the development group at a spiritualist church, so it is deemed better by the committees, to have a willing someone than to have no one at all. This is bad form. Better to have no circle than a badly run circle.

It is a sad fact that a person with a little knowledge can do more harm than good when it comes to training novices. If they have a limited knowledge, they cannot answer questions or help a person who is having problems. Therefore not at all safe.

If you decide to join any circles, be it privately or in a church, always check the credentials of the group leader. Ask the committee about the circle and the person running it, or other members of any private group. If in doubt, do not join.

You would also find it useful to read the posts I have written on opening up and closing down. This too is important to safety and not taken seriously by a lot of people. If you are open, you can attract spirits. Therefore you should only be open when you are wanting such contact.

More on this subject from time to time. You may email me at the link above if you have any questions or if I can help you in any way.
