Mediumship and Beyond

Divine service at a spiritualist church always includes a demonstration of mediumship. This is so that there can be proof of survival of the spirit or soul, after bodily death. This is the basis of spiritualist teachings. 

 The medium gives philosophy, says prayers and then demonstrates the gift of mediumship.  This being interspersed with hymns and readings.

Whenever there is a different type of mediumship being demonstrated it is classified as experimental mediumship. This is not allowed at divine services.  Flower reading, ribbon reading and trance mediumship are classed as experimental. So are automatic writing, aurography and psychometry.

Table tilting is also considered experimental.  Psychic suppers, where a medium sits with a group to give short readings, prior to having supper, is also experimental.

Of course, since the law was changed and the old fraudulent mediums act was repealed,  most of what occurs in a spiritualist church is considered entertainment.  That is sad when it is our religion.  But we must rise above it and try with all that we believe to prove life after death as always.

There are so many gifts that people have which are unexplained by science. It does not mean that they do not exist!

Psychic gifts have names that begin with clair…  I am often asked what they all mean so I will give you a quick insight today.

Clairvoyance, the most widely known, means clear seeing, or the gift of seeing psychically.  Clairvoyants will see most of the message they pick up from the spirit communicators. Or if they work purely psychically  they will see things in their head.

Clairaudience means clear hearing.  A medium with this gift will hear most of their spirit communication.  Usually the voices are subjective, heard within the head.

Clairsentience -which seems to be the gift which is most common among mediums nowadays - is all about sensing.  A medium will feel a sense of pain, or will sense the scent a spirit loved one.   They will find they just seem to know things about their sitter.  Knowing is perhaps a good way to describe it.

Occasionally a medium will have a mixture of gifts.  I am lucky in that I have a mixture of clairvoyance, clairaudience and clairsentience.  Which means my communications from the spirit world are a mixture too.  I see, hear and sense the things I am given to relay.  It allows me to put together a good picture, with the added bonus that I may hear the names and places being spoken. 

I may see a spirit,  so that I may describe them.  I may hear a spirit, so that I may repeat their words.  I may also feel a sense of the pains they suffered or smell their favourite scent.

Whichever gift you have it is a God given gift.  Be grateful you have it and learn to use it to the best of your ability so that you can help people who are in need of proof of survival after death.

Colour reading is a form of medumship.  Being a colour reader, as you know by now,  I like to read ribbons and flowers but I also like to read stones.  Coloured stones, not rune stones.

I have quite a few lovely stones which I have collected on my travels. Some are from France and some from Hawaii, but most of them are from Canada. 

There are some wonderful colours in these stones.  A lot of them are agates. Most are semi precious gemstones.

Just like the ribbons and the flowers, I can ask my sitters to choose some and I give a reading from them.  Linking in with the spirit world as I do so.  The colours tell me so much about my sitter and spirit bring the rest.  The proof of life after death from spirit being the most important part of the reading.

Choice of colour can show many things, not least of all dwinding health or blooming health.  Happiness, sadness and novelty.  They all show up in the colours.

Why not try it for yourself.  Collect a few stones, you can get them from craft fairs and craft stores.  A lot of new age type fairs usually have stalls which sell stones and crystals and the like.  You can even use your own booklet of swatches of material.  Whatever you prefer. It is the colour that is important.

As a medium I use colour a lot. I use it for readings and to send healing.  For readings I use coloured ribbons and flowers. Flowers are very popular for psychic readings. Clairsentience is the gift used for this purpose.

It is amazing how many people are a bit afraid to have a reading with a medium. They think they will be haunted or that they will take a ghost home with them.  But tell them it is a flower reading, or a ribbon reading, and they cannot wait.

Colour takes away the fear and adds a touch of amazement.  I still communicate with spirits to give my sitter proof of life after death. After all, I am a spiritualist medium.  I intersperse the colour reading, or the flower reading, with the information that their spirit loved ones are bringing. It is an excellent combination.

Sending absent healing using colour is a wonderful way to use healing gifts.  And as I wrote about yesterday, it can be used to give yourself a healing boost too.

Have you noticed how different you feel when you suddenly wear different colours to your norm? Try it tomorrow.  Even wearing the colours has an impact on your life.  Go to sleep at night thinking of a nice calming colour and you will have sweet dreams. Visualise wrapping the colour around you.

It is not selfish to want healing for yourself!  Some think that they should use their healing energy on others and this is commendable.  But, there is no reason why you cannot use it for yourself.

As healers, we daily send out healing either by hands on or absently.  We send out our love and our prayers and ask that those in need receive the healing power of spirit.  Such a lot of positive energy is sent around the world in this very unselfish manner.

In order to be able to use your psychic gifts and healing powers you need to be fit and well yourself.  Yoiu can ask for healing for yourself especially if you cannot get to see a hands on healer.

In the same manner that I suggested you use to send out absent healing (see earlier post) you can use the healing enegy to give yourself the healing treatment.

Sit in a calm and peaceful atmosphere.  Send out a prayer to spirit asking that your healing guides may come around you.  Close you eyes and visualise yourself lying on a bed in the middle of the room.  Build up a large cloud of blue healing energy and send it to the image of yourself on the bed.

Let the blue energy envelop the image completely and let it stay there for a while.  Send out your loving thoughts and prayers, just as you do for others.

When you feel the energy leaving thank spirit for their help and their love.  Say a closing prayer and sit for a while until you feel ready for the day.

I know you will feel the benefit. Spirit want healing for us all.  There is no need for anyone to feel selfish for needing healing.  Enjoy it, and when it is over and you feel whole again you may send out healing to others once more.

As the development circle progresses, you will find people are moving on at differing rates.  Some will move swiftly on and some very slowly.  Others will move along at a steady pace and it is these who will benefit most from the continuing circle.

Each session you will open up and work within the circle. You will be doing a variety of excercises, depending on the teachers preference and experience.

You will find you excel at some exercises and not at others. Very few of us are good at them all.  Aura work should be included, as it is the aura where psychics get the information from.   Some of you will remain psychic,  whilst others will become mediums if they are so gifted.  It is only much later that those of you who are gifted will be able to start working with spirits.

After the exercises, you may do workshop tasks like sand and stone reading to stretch you.  You may even use cards.  These may be angel cards.  Each circle should finish with a closing down exercise and final prayer.

Later on in the course things will become less ordered and more instinctual.  Enjoy it all and do not expect it ever to be over. Development is a life times affair.

The second session of your development circle should see a little bit more action.  You will have learned about opening and closing down your psychic centres and will be chomping at the bit to get working and using your psychic gifts.

You will open up and begin to ‘give off” the things, messages, you pick up whilst tuned in.  The group leader will encourage you all to work by asking you what you have got, or what you are sensing.

The idea is to give what you get, as soon as possible after getting it, so that you may get more.  It is very difficult for the novice to learn how to hold on to messages sensed in this manner.  You will soon get the hang of it though with lots of practice.

You may find that you link into the other sitters quite easily.  You may not always know who the information is for.  This is where your teacher will help and guide you.

At the end of each session of tuning in, the medium will encourage you to give anything you have left, before closing down the session.  Don’t take messages home with you when spirit may have brought you something  to give to another sitter.

Each medium, teacher, will have their own specialities and they will use them in their classes.  For instance, in my classes I deal with colour a lot.  Other teachers may not, but will have their own thing.

I get a lot of queries from readers asking me about the development circle.  In particular they would like to know more about what actually takes place during the circle.

Here I will try to give you an insight.  I will begin at the beginning and work through the events, as the week progresses.  If you have any questions as we go along,  please email me.

At the very first circle, an overview of the development course will tell you what to expect.  You will get to know each other and become relaxed in your environment.  This is important,  as you need to be relaxed in order to benefit from the atmosphere created by the circle.

Your teacher will tell you about them self  so that you get an understanding of them and the experience they bring with them.  You need to feel safe in your teachers hands. 

Prayer and meditation play a part in development and you will learn about it early in your development.  During the first circle you will need to learn the very basics of opening up, tuning in, and closing down. You will learn the reasons for opening up and closing down, as they are very important.

You may find that most of the first session will focus on learning the opening and closing process.  You cannot work properly, or safely,  withought this knowledge. 

This should form the basis of your development, but every medium has their own style and method of teaching.

Orbs are those round balls of varying sizes, which seem to appear willy nilly on our photographs.  They do not seem to be visible to the naked eye, but appear on photos unexpectedly.

Obviously you need to keep an open mind when looking for orbs.  No one seems to have a definite answer as to what they are.  Sometimes it appears to be rain or light which causes them.  Sometimes it is dust on the lens of you camera.  It can also be dust floating around the air or the room in which you take your photos.

Sometimes, however you try to give it a logical reason, there is none.   There is a suspicion however, that they are caused by psychic or spiritual energy.  This may be an answer, but maybe not the only answer.

Lots of psychic groups seem to be taking an interest in orbs and doing their own experiments to try to find an answer.  The seminar where I went before Christmas, held its own experiments. We found that building up our own psychic energy seemed to create lots and lots of orbs.

On occasion there were so many orbs created that it looked like a snow storm.  The orbs were visible to us via a live video feed adjacent to a monitor.  With some people there were only one or two orbs but with others there were lots of them.

I have seen orbs on photos taken at a memorial service.  They appeared close to the flowers which were laid by the head stone.  There was a very bright light directly over the stone, on the photos too.  On the photos it looked as though the whole centre piece was illuminated.

There are a few books on Amazon about remote viewing.  The first one I ever  read was Psychic Warrior.  It is a true story of the CIA’s Paranormal Espionage Programme.  Very gripping and exciting.

Remote viewing has been used by countries in the past, to see what the competition is up to, so to speak. 

If you have read anything about astral travel, you may have an understanding of remote viewing.  The subjects are given map coordinates, before going into a trance like state, and taking themselves to the intended destination.

At first they travel to nearby locations and eventually they learn to travel across countries and continents.  They are debriefed after their travel  to find out what they have experienced.

Learning to travel remotely is possible even if you are not a government agent.  You just have to set your sights a little lower.  Get a good book which explains the nitty gritty of the mechanics. 

Start small by moving into the next room and then the next building.  Maybe then it can be the next street and the next town.  Who knows how far you may travel without leaving your chair!  There are sometimes groups who like to share their experiences.  You may find like minded people on line.
