Mediumship and Beyond

Novices, in this particular instance, are student mediums who are developing in a psychic circle.

When a student has been sitting for development for some time, and is beginning to show the signs of working with spirits, they will start to give messages.

At first, it may just be a few words, names, birth dates and perhaps anniversaries.  Once the novice becomes used to picking up the communications, the messages will become longer and should make more sense to the recipient.

What we aim for is a whole message for just the one person.  This message should contain enough information to prove that they belong.  It may contain something from the past and present and may give a snapshot of the communicators relationship with the sitter.

The novice will soon realise that what they are doing is natural for them.  Not at all strage or weird!  The more practice the student gets, the more it will become second nature to them.

There are often novice, or fledgling evenings at spiritualist churches.  This is so that the novices can practice their skills and become used to a bigger audience.

If you get the chance to attend such a service, go along and support them.  You may end up with a really good message giving proof of life after death.

There are quite a few programmes on Sky TV at the moment, about psychic detectives.  I find them very interesting.

Most seem to involve murder or other serious incidents.  The mediums help police by giving them information gleaned from the spirit world.  And sometimes from the vibrations on articles connected to a crime.

I notice that some mediums contact the police themselves, whereas others are specifically contacted by the police.

There seems to be quite a few police departments in the US and Canada, that have certain mediums on their files.  They contact them when their normal every day police work is getting them nowhere.

The programmes I have watched, often use a piece of clothing, or a shoe, or other possession from the victim.  They then tune into their spirit guides and get images and words, which help them to piece together a picture, just like a jig saw puzzle.

On occasion, a medium or psychic may get visions which they believe might be connected to a crime, and they get in touch with police themselves.

One programme last week showed a psychic who even saw who was going to be the next serial killers victim.  They saved a life!

Maybe in the future more police departments will look to psychics to help them, when all else fails.  Why not, nothing to lose.

There is great interest in Tarot, amongst other psychic things.  Because of that there is renewed interest in buying Tarot cards.

If you have decided you want to learn how to read Tarot, then you need to take your time and make sure you get the right ones for you.

There is such a wide variety of decks to choose from.  Lots of great and colourful ones, with wonderful art work.  Many of them are created by really great artist such as Dali.

It is important to know a bit about cards and card reading before you purchase your own.  For instance, did you realise that the picture on the cards is important in helping you read them?  Well, it is, extremely important.

There are quite a few decks which only show the pips.  This means that the 10 of cups just shows ten cups.  The eight of swords, just shows 8 swords.  Unless you are a really  experienced reader, you will not find them very useful to you.

What you need, is a deck of Tarot, that has 52 different pictures which you can relate to.  So that both the major and the minor arcana, can show you a pictorial image of the meaning of the card.  So important when giving a reading.

Obviously, I cannot talk about all the available decks here, but you can go on the Internet and look at them.  There are several really good sales sites which will show you the pictures on all the cards.  Some will only show the major arcana.  Make sure you use one which shows them all.

When you have found a really good site, go through all the decks slowly.  Take a number of visits to the site and look carefully at all the decks available.  Some sites even have the option to get a short free reading with your chosen pack.  This allows you more freedom to choose.

When you have bought your cards you will need a good book to give you a basic understanding.  I suggest a good Tarot workbook.  I find that the small booklets which come with the packs, are not detailed enough for a good reading.

If you have developed your psychic gifts, you will soon find that you can use your gift whilst reading cards and this will improve you readings tremendously.  Have fun and don’t take them too seriously!

How can any self respecting person watch such rubbish as most haunted, on living tv.  There is no proof of either haunting or ghosts in the programmes, only lots of kidology.

There is also no proof that the guest ‘psychics’ have any psychic gift at all.  The majority of the time it seems one of the ‘psychics’ is from the old time music hall, hamming it up and putting on silly voices.

The presenter is no better, screaming and shrieking!  At what?  Her own noises!  There is certainly nothing else there. Perhaps she has to make this effort because her hubby runs the show.  Who knows.

Does it not insult you own intelligence?  Don’t you, as a person, deserve better from a TV channel than this.  I am sure you do.  If you are really interested in psychic things, then go to a spiritualist church and find out what it is really all about, and leave such rubbish to those who know no better.

This Halloween, do yourselves a favour and go out for the evening.  Don’t watch such hyped up drivel.

Even after all my concerns, I have really ended up enjoying this current series.  The last episode of which is next Tuesday.

There was a lot happening in this episode.  A lot of which I liked, but there were some bizarre events too, what with mention of zombies and vampires!

Whilst there is a lot of truth to the happenings in the programme, there is a lot of poetic license to add intrigue to the plot.

This weeks episode featured spirits entering bodies and living in them.  A bit like Jim is doing in Sam’s body during this series.

Of course this is just not possible but, it is possible for Melinda to see the spirits and communicate with them.  I do so all the time.  The spirits I talk to though are communicating through me to let their loved ones know they are still watching over them.  This does not mean they didn’t go through the light or that they are in some sort of limbo.

They don’t need my help to get to the spirit world.  It is a natural process, taking transition and going to the light, at the end of earthly existence.  They do not come back and take over bodies or hang around haunting and upsetting people.

Enjoy the programme but with a light heart and a light mind!

Yesterday evening we did read cards but, we read lots of other things as well.

My students brought along their cards and other tools of the trade to have a practice at.  We ended up running over time and thouroughly enjoying ourselves.  So much so that we are going to do the same thing next Tuesday!

There were tarot cards and angel cards.  Andrew and Kevin are both really good at reading these.  There were also Rune Stones, which I found to be very interesting.  Not seen any for a while.

We had a table with lots of props on:  coloured stones, feathers, ribbons and also some Angel Message cards.

Everyone had a reading and everyone had a go at trying the various tools for themselves.  Some of them for the first time.  After all, this is how students and novices find out which tool they like best and which helps them work best with Spirit.

As I always say, whilst you are using something as a focal point, Spirit can find a way into your mind, which may otherwise be far too crowded.

The best thing of all was the discussion the evening created.  We learned from each other as well as from the spirits we worked with.

Tonight, at my weekly workshop, my students will be reading cards. They each have different cards and each have their own way of reading them.

As is usual in my development circles, I encourage my students to have their own style and methods.  I will lead them throughout the workshops, but will always encourage individuality.

With cards, I always tell my students not to go by books but instead, to go with their intuition, when reading them.

Some of the students use Tarot, some use Angel cards.  There is so much variety out there, in stores and on line.  I suggest if you are thinking of trying them, that you look at lots and lots, and choose the ones you feel really drawn to, as they will be the ones which suit you best.

On line is a good place to start, as there are web sites which will show you the entire pack, rather than just a few examples.  You really need to be able to see a picture which you can tell a story from.  Therefore, they need to have pictures you can relate to.

Not all my sitters read cards.  Some students will give readings and some will be read for.  It is the same throughout the development course, the students will each find a tool they can relate to and work with.  For some it is cards, for others ribbons and colours or flowers.  Some might gel with sand readings.

If it is in there, the development classes will bring it out.  And we all have something in there!!!

There are so many different names that different people put to psychic events, talents, gifts and services.  What do we call them?

Most people view psychics as not natural.  I view being psychic as very natural.  It is just that I am aware of my capabilities and gifts, and lots of others are not aware of theirs.

Paranormal, is another word to describe psychic gifts.  Paranormal, being not normal or more than normal!  Again, I don’t think it describes it right, but lots of others do see us as being paranormal, and involved in paranormal things such as ghosts, or other spirit events and happenings.

Mediumistic, is another word.  Well, medium is a word for the style of communication.  A medium is a sort of go-between, and that is what I do, go between the spirit and the seeker, and pass on the communication.

Psychic, is what most people call using the special awareness we have.  They are right, but we all have these psychic gifts, they ARE natural.  Some say intuition or insight and these are right too.  Instinct is another one.

A medium has to be aware of their psychic gifts and know how to use them so that they can act as a medium. A medium who is a go-between!  Passing over the spiritual message.  And, giving psychic information too.

To me, occult and paranormal are a bit superfluous.  I am a natural person who has learned to use my psychic gifts in order to act as a medium for the spirit and seeker.

When it comes to physical mediumship gifts, it is a tad different and we will discuss this more another time.

TV events are not usually worth the interest.  They leave a lot to be desired and a lot of the subject matter is easy to manipulate.  Especially with cameras!  Workshops and demonstrations are always interesting and we cannot get enough of them.

Transfiguration is a physical mediums gift.  For anything to be physical it has to be visible or audible to mortal eyes and ears.

Some of the usual psychic gifts involve seeing, sensing and hearing, using the psychic senses.  These are the senses which are not physical, they are what is referred to as mental mediumship.

When the medium has sat and developed physical gifts, they will have developed the use of ‘ectoplasm’.  Physical mediumship can only occur with ectoplasm present.

Trance is not physical mediumship, rather a mental state of different levels of consciousness. This can be manipulated by the user.

Ectoplasm is used to provide the direct voice which may come via a ‘trumpet’.  The ectoplasm is used to move the trumpet and direct it to the recipient of the spirit message.  You will recognise your loved ones voice if it comes to you this way.

Ectoplasm is used by the physical medium, who sits in a cabinet in order to contain the ectoplasm, so that it can be used by the spirit enitites, to form the figure and features of the spirit loved one for recognition.  When the figure is formed it emerges outside the cabinet for the sitters to witness.  This can be incredible!

Although table phenomena is usually created by using the psychic energy of the sitters, and therefore can be controlled and manipulated too much. I have seen sitters pushing the table on more than one occasion. 

When a physical medium is present and in charge of the table, it is different.  Spirit will create ectoplasmic rods in order to lift, tilt and tap, the table and bring proof from spirit.  This is wonderful when done sincerely.

Above all, the integrety of mediums a sitters is paramount.  So many people who have no psychic gifts try to make it appear that they do.  If you are sensible and respect your own intelligence, you can spot the fakers.

The fakers cannot keep up the act and find it difficult to answer spiritual questions.  Usually they do not give personal messages either.
