There are a lot of misconceptions about seances. The general public have an image of mediums sat around in the dark holding hands and making ghosts appear. Not to mention floating chocolate wrappers and levitating people!
Unfortunately, the public have also got the impression that at any seance, any spirit, can be summoned up. Whoever they were when on the material plane seems not a problem.
Make no mistake about it, you cannot summon up any spirit at all! Not Elvis, Michael Jackson, Princess Diana or Mother Theresa!
Firstly, a seance is a group of two or more people, at least one of which needs to be a medium. Their purpose is to communicate with spirit. Not to summon up spirits.
Spirits can come when invited, but no one can pick and choose which ones come. You get what you get basically.
There is little point in asking for a famous celebrity spirit to come along. Or even a particular friend or loved one. Spirit has to contact the seance through the medium. Not the other way around.
A seance therefore, is a spiritualist’s circle, during which spirits may communicate through the medium to the other sitters present. There are sometimes lots of spirits communicating. sometimes there is nothing at all. It all depends on the circumstances.
A spirit will communicate when they feel a loved one needs them. This could be because of illness or bereavement, or just because the spirit thinks the loved one needs guidance. A spirit will not use up the necessary energy just to say hi.
The best thing to do if invited to a seance or circle, is to throw out your love to spirit and not to ask for a particular spirit, as it may offend another spirit waiting to communicate with you.
Always be practical about it and use your own intelligence to reason things out. Above all, enjoy your sitting with whoever comes through to you. Remember, they have gone to a lot of trouble to be here.
