There are several forms of physical mediumship.  The most important thing about physical mediumship though is,  it is physical, therefore,  everyone should be able to witness it.

There should be no doubting the effects of the physical gift.  If it is transfiguration then all the ‘audience’ should be able to see the same changes.  There should be no disagreement.

If it is direct voice, then all the witnesses should hear the same voice or voices, saying identical words.

If it is physical mediumship, where ectoplasm builds up inside a cabinet and then appears outside it, everyone should see the same figure.

It is not physical mediumship if it cannot been seen or heard with the physical eyes and ears we mortals have.  You do not have to be a medium or clairvoyant to see physical things.

Don’t insult your intelligence with thinking you have to be able to squint to see the apparition properly.  If it is there you should see it!

In the dark with only a red lamp bulb, people do not appear to look the same.  There are those who dress in black and have a red light shining on them in an otherwise dark room, to give the impression that something psychic or spiritual is going on.  When maybe they are just good at pulling faces.

I have seen many a demonstration of ‘Trance’!  Or should I say ’so called trance’!  I am sure 99% of these were not in trance at all.  Maybe they are deluding themselves, but they haven’t fooled me.  Don’t let them fool you.

There are lots of good mediums out there, why be fooled by people who say they are in trance.  Who needs them.

Ask yourself serious questions about the event.  Does the person giving the demo have anything to offer that they cannot offer when not in a ‘trance’ state.  Do they offer clairvoyance or is it just a question and answer session which could well be their own thoughts.

If a medium genuinely goes into trance, it is usually for a very good reason.  This reason is to give some evidence that cannot be given without the trance.  The guide will use the trance in order to provide the proof.

A Spiritualist Medium, is basically a believer in Spiritualism and a practitioner of mediumship.

Mediums are those who are blessed with a special gift. They give proof of life after death and also offer counselling to the bereaved, helping them to deal with death in a way that those belonging to other religions may not be able.?

The medium’s gift facilitates the spirits passing on of messages from the spirit world, to their earthly loved ones here. Their role in life is to prove survival of the human soul and personality, after earthly death. And also to help the bereaved come to terms with their physical loss.

Private consultations, or sittings and readings, with mediums, are not intended to be fortune telling in any way. They are intended to prove survival of the spirit.

For help in finding a good medium, see my earlier posts and archived blogs.

What is Spiritualism? is a question I am often asked.  Mostly by those who come to me for private consultations, but sometimes by friends and colleagues who are intrigued by what I do.

Psychics are not necessarily spiritualists, in fact a lot of those I have met do not seem to believe in a God.  In fact they think all the work is done by themselves and their own psychic power!

Mediums, on the other hand, do believe in God and Spirit is the fundamental essence mediums work.  Without Spirit working hand in hand with mediums, we would have no Spiritualism.

It is the Spiritualists belief in God and life after death, which gives the medium a purpose!

Here is Wikipedia’s definition of the word: Spiritualism is a monotheistic belief system or religion, postulating a belief in God, but the distinguishing feature is belief that spirits of the dead can be contacted, either by individuals or by gifted or trained “mediums“, who can provide information about the afterlife.[1]

Spiritualism developed in the United States and reached its peak growth in membership from the 1840s to the 1920s, especially in English-language countries,[2][3] By 1897, it was said to have more than eight million followers in the United States and Europe,[4] mostly drawn from the middle and upper classes, while the corresponding movement in Latin speaking countries is known as Spiritism.

The religion flourished for a half century without canonical texts or formal organization, attaining cohesion by periodicals, tours by trance lecturers, camp meetings, and the missionary activities of accomplished mediums. Many prominent Spiritualists were women. Most followers supported causes such as the abolition of slavery and women’s suffrage.[2] By the late 1880s, credibility of the informal movement weakened, due to accusations of fraud among mediums, and formal Spiritualist organizations began to appear.[2] Spiritualism is currently practiced primarily through various denominational Spiritualist Churches in the United States and United Kingdom.

I have been asked how many coloured ribbons are needed to give ribbon readings and what colours they are.

Suffice it to say that you do not need to have a lot of ribbons or indeed a lot of colours.  You may begin with seven (7 ) for the colours of the rainbow or colours of the most important chakras.

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo and Violet.  These are the chakra colours and they are also the colours of the rainbow.

You can begin with just these few coloured ribbons.  Remember, you should have plain colours and not use tartans or spots and patterns or elaborate ribbons.  Anything other than plain ribbons will interfere with the meanings of the message you give.

When you begin to progress, you may add to your collection with maybe different colours or with different shades of the same colours.  There are of course many shades of each colour.

You should though, get used to all your colours and then meanings before adding to your collection.  Don’t run before you can walk.

Enjoy and good luck!

There was an early episode repeated on Sky TV this week.  It was a rather interesting story and involved the professer more than in earlier episodes.

Psychocmetry was brought into the story, for the first time I believe.

There were several large jig saw pieces and they were drawing Melinda to them.  Attracting her in a very strong way.  The prof noticed and asked her to hold the pieces.

Melinda was scared, but she stoically put out her hand and grabbed one of the pieces.  She immediately was swept into the past as these items were holding vibrations from someone else’s past life.

After her experience, which she related to the prof, he told her that what she had just done was in fact ‘Psychometry’!  Reading the vibrations from an old item.

I found this to be good mediumship stuff.  Nothing too fancy or over the top and very in keeping with my own beliefs and practice.

The episode was light years away from the latest episodes, but eh, we all have to grow and move onward!

Sometimes a person will tell me about a happening in their own home.  It is usually something that has had a great impression on them.  They see it maybe as supernatural or of an occult nature.

Here is Wikipedias explanation of the word occult:

Occult

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The word occult comes from the Latin word occultus (clandestine, hidden, secret), referring to “knowledge of the hidden”.[1] In the medical sense it is used to refer to a structure or process that is hidden, e.g. an “occult bleed”[2] may be one detected indirectly by the presence of otherwise unexplained anaemia.

The word has many uses in the English language, popularly meaning “knowledge of the paranormal“, as opposed to “knowledge of the measurable“,[3][4] usually referred to as science. The term is sometimes popularly taken to mean “knowledge meant only for certain people” or “knowledge that must be kept hidden”, but for most practicing occultists it is simply the study of a deeper spiritual reality that extends beyond pure reason and the physical sciences.[5] The terms esoteric and arcane can have a very similar meaning, and the three terms are often interchangeable.[6][7] ”"

It may be a short, spooky, event, or a long lasting or recurring one. There may be a simple explanation.  It may also be because the person experiencing it is just becoming aware of their own latent psychic gifts.

There may have been noises which the person has not been aware of before.  They may have seen shadows and think they are being haunted.  Sometimes it is possessions which have disappeared and then reappeared again, causing a scary feeling.

Usually it is all down to psychic awareness, often newly brought to the fore. But it can be down to a recent loved one’s passing.  The loved one may be trying to bring proof that they are still around and aware of the material life still.

No problem there then!

Occasionally it may appear that their home is being haunted.  There may well be a good reason for this, but in my experience, it is spirit trying to prove they are here to communicate with you, rather than mischievously trying to scare the living daylights out of you.

Again I reiterate, If it insults your intelligence then don’t go with it. There is usually a better and more natural explanation.  Consult your local friendly (and recommended) medium.  Or write to me for free advice.

I constantly read about people who have had supposedly dangerous psychic events.  There are often accounts of these odd happenings on blog sites and in magazines as well as newspapers.  There are also the odd few who plague spiritualist churches with their tails of their imagined terrors.

Are there no sensible people left on this planet?

My honest opinion of most of the people (the ones I have met) who go to churches asking for help with their terrors, seem to be emotionally in need of help.  Fear seems to be an inherent part of their nature.

The most regular theme from the scared person seems to be: talks with Jesus or talks and messages from God!  Or the fact they think they are themselves, a higher spirit with perhaps their own wings.

Sadly, some of these people sit in circles week after week, with the same sitters, who soon get to know them and their personal need.  Sadly, these same people seem to feed this terror by giving ‘psychic’ messages to this same effect.

‘You have wings, God is talking to you personally, Jesus wants me to give you this message’!!!

This is extremely unhelpful to a person who need emotional or medical help from someone with the correct credentials.  Sorry, but psychic cannot help such people.

I advise such people to only go where no-one knows them and tell them nothing.  See how soon the nonsense messages cease!

Follow your gut feeling and if something does not seem right then it probably isn’t.  Don’t insult your own intelligence by believing something you are sure cannot physically happen.

More on this subject later in the week.

Saturday was the day I worked at Whitham Road’s Psychic Fair, to help raise funds for the church.  It was a lovely day with plenty of visitors to the fair, and plenty of workers too.

There were stalls selling books, crystals, tarot and Angel cards and lots of other interesting items.  The church president, Tim Doyle had a stall where he displayed his crystal ball and gave readings throughout the event.

Healing was a major part of the event.  There were spirit healers on hand.  Reiki and Indian head massage with crystal healing too.  Lots of people were having taster treatments.

There were several other mediums, including myself, who gave private readings all through the day.  There was also a tarot reader. I personally was inundated with sitters queuing up for ribbon readings.  I was meant to have a break from 1 to 2pm but ended up working straight through as my queue never ended.

It was a very busy but spiritually rewarding time.  I trust the church is happy with the amount of funds it created.  All mediums gave their time free, of course and all money went to the church funds.

I met some lovely people during the fair and although some of them were in tears during their reading, they assured me that I gave them good evidence.

It often happens, in my experience, that a sitter will be moved to tears when a loved one, whom they are waiting to hear from, finally comes through with a loving message.  Well worth the hard work!!!

Clairsentience is the psychic gift of sensing, smelling, and feeling emotions. Sometimes it can be the sense of the pain which a person felt during their earthly life. Once back in the spirit world, they can relay this feeling of pain and emotion to the medium.

Often clairsentience is the pain felt during the transition period.  This being when a person is dying and moving to the higher side of life. They may experience the pain as their last breath on this earth plane occurs.

Often, cliairsetience is the first part of psychic development.  It is the sense of smell which does not come through the physical nose. It is an acute awareness of a smell, that those without the gift seem to be unaware of. It may be the scent that a spirit used when on the earth plane, and therefore a good piece of proof for a seeker.

If the medium told the sitter that they were aware of a lady smelling of ‘Evening in Paris’, for example, this may be how the sitter remembers this particular spirit. This may be the evidence he or she is looking for to prove life after death.

Emotions experienced by the spirit, especially just prior to their physical passing, can sometimes be relayed by a medium who uses this gift to the fullest. There may be laughter and joy, as well as sadness. Feeling and sensing what the spirit wants to relay is a medium’s job.

When a medium uses this gift it brings so much more to a message. A combination of clairaudience, clairsentience, and clairvoyance is what the developer of the sixth sense should aspire to.

This Saturday, 19th September, Whitham Road SNU church, in Sheffield, is holding a Psychic Fair.  As is usual on these occasions, it is a fund raising event for the church.

The event is due to start at 11am and close at 4pm.  There will be lots to do.  Stalls selling crystals and all things psychic, as well as mediums giving private readings.  There is also Spiritual Healing to be given to those of you who feel the need.

I will be there, along with other mediums, giving taster readings.  I will be giving colour readings by using my ribbons.

The fare is a good place to discover more about psychics, mediums, and the spiritualist movement in general.

The event costs a mere £1.50 and you can find out more about it and about Whitham Road church by clicking on:  http://www.whithamroad.co.uk/special%20events.html

If you are in the area and have a free afternoon on Saturday, why not give it a try.  I am sure a warm welcome awaits you!
