Mediumship and Beyond

Another name for mischievous spirits is poltergeist.  Poltergeist is another name for psychic energy running amok.

Many people assume that poltergeist activity is caused by a bad, evil, or naughty spirit.  It is not so.  Poltergeist activity is caused by psychic energy.  Psychic energy which is not harnessed or used for a purpose, builds up and can cause havoc.

The problem is usually associated with troubled teenagers.  Boys and girls are both affected but most often it is girls who are most troubled.

There are reports of noises and water with sometimes fire being included.  It can be quite alarming for the person involved and almost as scary for the witnesses of the phenomena, quite often the family.

When a medium is asked to investigate the problem and the causes, it usually turns out to be the troubled teen who believes they are possessed by some evil spirit.

To rid themselves of the problem, they need to be taught how to harness the energy and use it for a good cause.  This good cause can be healing.  They can be taught how to send absent healing out and use up the energy.

The poltergeist activity will soon be a thing of the past.  Remember, spirits are not physical and cannot hurt us physically.  Also, a poltergeist is not a ghost!

There are now many evenings of clairvoyance at venues other than spiritualist churches.  Public halls,  theatres, and even in pubs and clubs. There are quite a few of these which are held for charity, to raise money for worthy causes.

Most spiritual mediums give their time free of charge at charity events. These are great events to go and find out just what goes on and see for yourself that there is nothing spooky or scary about mediums at all.  Well, most anyway!

There is sometimes more than one medium in attendance and you may find that one of them has a good night, but the other doesn’t. They may well both be good, but sometimes material conditions are not always conducive to mediumship. 

You must remember that such events are somewhat of an experiment as it is impossible for mediums to summon up spirits at will. The time of the old style mediums who used to name drop and imply they could call up anyone, famous or otherwise, are, hopefully, in the past.

You cannot summon up celebrity spirits or any other particular spirit for that matter.  The medium has to wait and see who wants to communicate with their sitter.  A celebrity spirit doesn’t usually come to communicate with a person they do not know.  Why would they?

We seekers of the truth must be honest if we are to find the truth.

Colours: For instance, colours can be read with some knowledge and practice. It takes just a few of ribbons and a basic set of meanings for the colour of each one. With practice, you will soon be using your ribbons as a focal point for your concentration, thus allowing your mind to focus on the information which is being channelled through to your consciousness.

The classes will be weekly.  You need to say if you are a complete beginner or otherwise. It is always best to have a nice mixture of abilities in my opinion, but for complete beginners this is sometimes a bit unnerving.  You will learn more though and come on quicker within a mixed group. 

The classes will involve learning to meditate and the correct way to open and close up the psychic centres.  You will also learn how to meet your guide and get to work with them.  Learning to read ribbons, flowers, sand, and how to do psychometry will be interesting, to say the least.

Covering the basics of Spiritualism is an important part of any beginners course but the more advanced ones will already have this knowledge.   We do not spend a long time on this subject unless it is asked for.

Whilst in Canada, I was having a conversation with a dear friend when suddenly we were joined by a very distinctive lady spirit. I described her to my friend,  right down to her clothes and manner, and my friend immediately brought out a photograph of the very same person I was describing. She said I was using her mannerisms too whilst I talked.

The lady spirit was her Grandmother, who happened to love cooking, and she proceeded to give lots of information about her own life, as well as the past and present of my friend’s life; offering advice and reassurance.

When she was finished telling all she needed to get across, she said she would bring proof to my friend that she was often near her, by doing something special whilst my friend used her stove. We wondered what it might be!

We did not have long to wait as the very next day my friend rang me, quite excited by an occurence near her stove whilst she had been cooking. One item she wasn’t using was her olive oil pourer. It was in the corner of the kitchen counter,  when all of a sudden the spout shot out of the bottle and hurled itself across the kitchen, right to the other side.

My friend was adamant that it could not have happened of its own accord. We believe it was her Grandmother bringing the proof she had promised. My friend was so comforted and indeed impressed!  I too was impressed and also surprised that it happened so soon after the reading.

If you decide to go and see a medium for a private reading, it is always best to ask around and see if any friends or relatives can recommend someone they have been to see. Word of mouth is usually how a medium’s reputation is measured.

If someone has had a really good sitting with genuine proof of life after death, they will be pleased to pass on a name and number to you. Equally, if they have been to see a medium who left a lot to be desired, they may perhaps want to warn you against seeing them and wasting money.

Firstly, a good reading from a medium should contain information about a loved one of yours in the spirit world. This information should be enough for you to recognise who it is communicating to you, by stating personal details such as their name, illness with which they passed over or suffered from, and places and memories that are collectively unique to you and them, and your relationship with them. You may not receive all of these, but there should be enough data for you to recognise who the loved one is.

Secondly, after the loved one has proved to you who they are, they should be able to pass on information to you, via the medium, about current events concerning yourself and any concerns you have in your current life. The spirit may give advice about how to handle a particular difficulty you are experiencing, or about another loved one who may be unwell and in need of healing. Loved ones like to carry on helping us from the spirit world just as they did when they were here on Earth.

Sometimes, if you are lucky, the communicator may tell you something that you are not yet aware of, and it will only become clear what they mean when you have asked questions of those within your family or friends. This is proof that there is no mind reading taking place, as it needs the input of an absent third party to fill in the gaps of the message. I like it when this happens.

I have been asked how i know it is OK with God to give psychic readings.  Here is my response to this.

When you are using your mediumship, it is my belief that it is God’s work.  I do not believe it could happen if God did not want it to.

When I use my mediumship it is always following a prayer to God asking for his love, help and blessing.  I ask that my guardian angel and spirit guides may come to help and work with me.  I ask for the truth at all times.

I would be worried if my work was not very good.  If I always got negative information or negative responses from my sitters.  Then I would probably stop giving readings altogether.

I feel that if you do the work for the right reasons, and always have the highest of principles, then all is well.  If you help your sitter and make that person feel uplifted and no longer sad, then you have truly done God’s work.

If you have helped that person believe that there is life after our so called death, then you have truly done a great job for spirit and ultimately for God.

There are a lot of misunderstandings about clairvoyance, clairvoyants and mediums.  Here I offer you an explanation on the subject.

A fully developed sixth sense brings several gifts into play.  Clairvoyance seems to be the most well known of these gifts. Clairvoyance is the ability to see clearer, or to see things that those without the developed gift cannot see.  It actually means clear seeing but it really can be ‘seeing spirits’.

Clairvoyance occurs when the third eye (in the centre of the brow) is developed enough to allow you to see images, pictures and sometimes spirits. These images seem to be inside the head, rather than outside as with natural vision. A clairvoyant may say “I see a man with you.” The man is not actually stood beside you, but this is how it will appear to the clairvoyant when they tune in to you. It is seen inside the mind.

Clairvoyants see a virtual jigsaw puzzle with their special vision, and the hard part for them is putting the pieces together to give a clear message.  When a spirit entity wants to get a message across to a loved one, they will show the medium lots of images, and maybe they will show themselves too, in order to allow the medium to give accurate information.

Clairvoyance and mediumship  is really a partnership between spirit, sitter, and medium. Clairvoyance is not fortune telling. The future is not a medium’s responsibility: the past and the present are.  Proving life after death is the main aim of a clairvoyant medium.

We all have a sixth sense, and I firmly believe that all of us have the ability to develop our sixth sense.  This would allow us to use our psychic ability.  It does take time and effort, but it is very rewarding when you have mastered a technique that suits you.  Not all techniques are for all of us.  Trial and error will help you find the right one for you.

Most of us mere mortals are just aware of the five physical senses and are surprised to find that there are others.  The sixth sense is a natural gift which seems to have become stifled in most of us as we have ‘evolved’.  Learning to awaken this sense is a natural thing to do.  It is not supernatural.

There are Spiritualist churches all over the world now, and there are lots of opportunities to learn how to become psychically aware, and to be able to practise your new found gift when you are ready for the public domain.  You do not have to be a church goer, or take on a new religion. You can go to development groups and classes almost anywhere now. In a church and also privately. There are also books which aid the seekers of psychic awareness.

If you are not ready to try developing it for yourself, then you might like to try a psychic event at a hall or church nearby. There are always plenty on offer, although some are quite pricey. You can also host your very own psychic evening. Again, more information on this in the coming weeks.

I feel a mixture of home study and home circle, plus church visits to see how mediums work.  You can get both good and bad examples there though, so you need to be discerning.  At least you will have an idea of the way it is demonstrated in public.

You can also go to a recommended medium for a private reading.  This will give you further insight and perhaps some inspiration from spirit.  In the meantime you may like to keep up with my blog as I will be writing about all psychic and mediumistic subjects five days a week.

Many people believe in ghosts but what they actually believe ghosts are differs from person to person.

There are many ‘Ghost Busting’ or ‘Haunting Nights’ being held across the country at ancient sites and old properties.  There are also popular TV  programmes which delve into the ‘unknown’!  Ask any potential ghost buster just what he or she expects to see at the events and it differs greatly.

Some say that they fully expect to see a ghost,  as that is what they believe the event is for.  Others think that they will see things moving of their own accord, such as tables raising up and smaller items floating in mid air.

Ask what they think ghosts are, and this varies too. Lots of these seekers seem to believe that every spirit who has left their material body, is able to haunt places and appear at will. Others think it is only the ‘troubled’ souls who stay around to haunt and scare people.  Some kind of vengeance perhaps!

The simplest explanation to me is that a ghost is an image trapped in time. When people say they have seen the ‘white lady’ or the ‘small child crying’, the event is usually relayed in exactly the same way, with the same descriptions, by all those who say they witnessed it, every time. There is usually no variation in the event.

It came through the wall and floated over to the other wall before disappearing into it….

The room went cold and there was a bad feeling or bad smell in the air when the ghost appeared and did her usual thing, whilst carrying an object….

It appears at the side of the road sometimes at 2am and floats across as though the road was not there, doing the same thing each time….

My belief is that the reason the image is trapped in time, is because of a violent and unexpected passing, the shock of which somehow causes the effect to make an imprint upon this earthly plane. Spirits who pass over to the Spirit World in the usual manner do not seem to go in for haunting.

My experiences are usually of  the spirits of loved ones, who are wanting to let us know they are watching over us, and to give us reassurance at difficult times in our lives. They can communicate to us via a medium and bring messages of love, not scaring us or haunting our homes as this would achieve little.
