As you will be aware, if you are a regular reader of my blog, I am a colour reader.  I prefer reading to colours during my private consultations than any using any other tool as a focal point.

Ribbons are generally used in readings but usualy in a psychometric style.  I read the colours but most readers, in my humble experience, do not. Most read the vibrations that the ribbons give off.  There is nothing wrong with that and each to their own.  Vibrations last on items forever, once they have been handled.

Flowers are different, in that they live, like us, for an intended time and then die.  This does not stop them from collecting vibrations.  The vibrations are usually put on the flowers by the person who cuts them and picks them.  They can be put there by gardeners or by the florist in the flower shop.  If they are grown in your own garden and you are the one who picked them, then they will most likely just have your vibrations on them.

Flowers too are very colourful and there is a lot of information to be gleaned from the choice of flower and the choice of the particular colour.  This is where flower reading is different from other types of readings.

When I read a flower I take into account the colour and the shades, the leaves and their shade, and the state of the flower as a whole.  I look to see if there are thorns or breaks in the stem and any flaws that can give me an insight.

There are lots of flower readers who count the leaves and count the petals.  They check to see if the stem is straight or bent and look at any angles.  They notice how big the flower is and if any of the petals are damaged.  As you can imagine, quite a big picture can develop if everything is taken into account.

The only thing that really sets apart different flower readers is:  a few use the flower reading as a warm up focal point, whilst they tune in to the spirit realms for more direct communication that may prove life after death.  This is the kind I am and the kind I prefer.  Which do you prefer?

I first became aware of my own interest in the psychic and spiritual subject, after my beloved maternal Grandmother passed over to the higher side of life. I missed her so much and simply could not believe I would never see her again. I was distraught for a long time and still miss her today.

Most of my childhood I spent as much time as possible with my Gram, and we shared the same interests such as knitting and sewing, but also we both enjoyed walking through the cemetery on a sunny Sunday afternoon. My Gram would talk to me of life and death and the afterlife, although I was unsure at the time exactly where her beliefs sprang from. I am still not sure, even today.

With my interest already kindled, I decided to ask around for advice on where to do my spiritual searching and questioning. This was long after my grandmother had passed over.

I had no spiritual or psychic knowledge to speak of. One day my mother told me there was a Psychic Research Centre in the city centre. She thought I might get my answers there. So, armed with a bag of sweets and a couple of friends, along I went.

I soon became a regular at that centre and I took the whole subject much more seriously than any of my friends did. They saw it as entertainment whereas I saw it as a way of life.

One day, a well known Sheffield medium was on the platform at the psychic centre, and she talked about the fact that all of us have the gift of being psychic. She said it was up to us if we chose to develop it. She told us that we were all psychic and we could quite easily get help to develop our gifts.

When the service was over I approached the medium, Pat, and asked her where I could get “some of this development”. Pat laughed, but after a nice and informative chat, she very kindly directed me to our local Spiritualist church, where she said there was a regular development group.

There at the spiritualist church, every week, a popular medium of good reputation ran an ‘Awareness and Development’ class, at which I soon became both a regular and a very enthusiastic member.

At the development class I learned a lot about Spiritualism, as well as awareness of spirit and about how mediums communicate with spirit. I just could not get enough of it and I started to attend the other nights events at the church, when different types of services were held. It felt like I was home.

I soon developed enough to start working in the open circles and gradually moved on from there. That first day at the psychic centre was over 26 years ago. I have never looked back and I have made wonderful friends and met lots of really excellent mediums.

There are lots of churches and psychic centres for you to attend if that is where you feel you belong. Try looking at the church directory by using the link I posted recently. Maybe you will find your very own home!

For those of you just starting your psychic development and perhaps following the advice on this blog, here is  a  little more information about the things you may experience.

You may experience several things whilst opening up your chakras, or psychic centres. It will mainly be the colours which hold your attention at first, especially the way in which the colours behave and react.

You may notice that the colours are much more vivid or brighter than the every day earthly colours with which you are familiar. You may notice the colours shimmering or pulsating, as this is the way the colours behave in your aura.

I work with colours regularly. Every colour has its own meaning to me, and I like to use coloured ribbons sometimes  to give readings or demonstrations. I find they are very good tools for development and for honing the psychic skills. I can tell a lot about a person with the colours they choose when having a ribbon reading. It also helps create a channel for spirit communication. The ribbons become a focal point.

Each colour is used to develop a particular Chakra.  Chakra being the name that Yogis use when they are referring to the psychic centres. For instance, the third eye, in the centre of the brow, is known as the clairvoyance centre, or the psychic seeing eye, the third eye. The colour is blue, so if you want to concentrate on developing the third eye you can concentrate on the colour blue whilst visualising the centre.

When you begin meditations, you may see, hear and sense things, such as people, spirit entities or objects. This is the aim of psychic development. When communicating with the spirits you will be able to pick up and relay emotions from them, if this is something they want to communicate through you.

Remember, we are all unique and you will find that you have your own very special way of communicating with the spirit world.  Just stick with the development exercises and be honest with yourself.

We all have physical senses which we use all the time: sight, hearing, smell, taste, feeling. We also have other senses with which you may not be familiar just yet, psychic senses. It is these psychic senses which you need to develop in order to become a psychic reader or a medium.

A clairvoyant medium ‘sees’ most of the communication he or she passes on to a sitter. A medium is not a fortune teller, mediumistic clairvoyance is not used to tell the future, but to pass on communication from the spirit world to prove there is life after the physical death.

A clairaudient medium hears most of the communication he or she passes on to a sitter, although there might be other gifts at work here too. It is not unusual for a well developed medium to have more than one psychic sense working during readings.

A clairsentient medium senses and feels most of the communication from the spirits, which he or she passes on to the recipient of a spiritual message, the sitter.  I consider myself to be very lucky as I am clairvoyant, but also have different levels of sensing and hearing as well as seeing. This comes in very handy when receiving and passing on communications which may seem a bit like a jig-saw puzzle.

These are the senses which have to be developed if you  wish to use them as a psychic, or as a medium. In order to use the senses, you must first learn to become aware of them and how to open and close them, as with the previous post on chakras.

You have to be prepared to be a dedicated sitter in order to develop your psychic abilities. It is not something that can be done in a hurry and certainly not overnight. You need lots of patience, as I have said before.

You also need a good heart and the desire to help people. Without compassion, it is unlikely that you will attract the kind of spirits who are able to work with you and help you develop your gifts.

To understand someone else’s pain, you have to know what pain is, and therefore be able to empathise with your sitter.

Personal responsibility is an important part of being a medium. We are all responsible for our own personal good and bad deeds during our earthly life. Others cannot be blamed for our own failings.

If you are starting your psychic development it will be useful to know about the chakras.  The chakras are what I call the psychic centres and you can learn to see them psychically.  Until you can see them in this way, it is useful to visualise them when opening up for a psychic session.

Sit quietly with your eyes closed and go through the process of visualising each chakra with its respective colour.  It is good to visualise them as flower buds opening up, or doors being pushed open.  Whichever way you find easiest.

The chart below will help you to become familiar with them and therefore make visualisation easier for you.  With practice you will soon find yourself opening up very quickly.

After you have finished your session you must close down the chakras again to be safe.  Go through the visualisation process and this time close up the flower buds or the doors.  You are then closed down and free from any interference from uninvited spirits.

Regular practice will make opening and closing your chakras as simple as opening and closing your eyes.  Whilst you are open you can practice your psychic gifts.  Good luck with it.

I know it will help a lot of my readers to know where their local spiritualist churches are located.  It is also useful to know where in the country and in fact where in the world, you can find a spiritualist church if you are away from home, on holiday or otherwise.

I know I like to visit churches when away from home.  When I visit Canada I like to visit a church and wherever I have been in the world there has usually been a church for me to attend.  It helps to be able to logon to a website and locate the right church in minutes.

It is not just a case of finding the church though.  You need to know when they hold their services and if they are public services or just private ones.  Times too are important.  it is not much good arriving when the service is half over.

The website I use for this purpose gives world, country and city locations.  It gives addresses and phone numbers of contacts.  There is in many cases a link to the  churches own website.  I find it very useful.

I won’t try to tell you how to navigate the site as there are very simple and easy to follow instructions on the website itself.  You will use it often I am sure.

If you visit anywhere which stands out from the crowd, please share your experience with us by emailing me and I will publish it.  Good hunting!

There are actually two sites which I use that will help you find a church.  One for worldwide and the SNU one for the UK.  Here are the links below.

I have been asked the question: Are Clairvoyants Permitted to Tell You About a Death?

First and foremost is to tell you that clairvoyants are not always mediums and not always Spiritualists either.  Spiritualists follow an ethical code and forecasting death is frowned upon.  To forecast anything is to be a fortune teller and that is not what mediums are about.

Mediums are here to prove life after this life and to uplift and comfort you.  It would not be comforting to be told that a loved one was about to pass over.  So, the answer is a big NO!  It is neither ethical or kind.

My personal belief is that only our creator has such knowledge about our duration of life.  We are here to learn and to evolve.  When our time is over and our job done, we go back home to the spirit world and no one has the knowledge of when this will be.

The ethics of mediumship are often ignored by those who class themselves as psychics and clairvoyants.  I am a clairvoyant spiritualist medium and therefore take the ethical role very seriously.  My aim is to help and not to upset.

Someone with no ethical code could tell you anything and have no qualms about it.  There are, of course, the cold readers who tell you anything they think you want to know, and those without clairvoyant gifts who will tell you otherwise to make money from you.

My advice is to be very discerning and only go to a medium who has been recommended to you by a trusted friend or relative.  If you find yourself face to face with a ‘reader’ who starts to predict death then get up and leave immediately.

If you want further advice you may write to me via this site and I will try to help you.  I will be posting information about Spiritualist Churches in your area shortly, and I am sure you will be helped by the information you receive there.

If you decide to go and see a medium for a private reading, it is always best to ask around and see if any friends or relatives can recommend someone they have been to see.

Word of mouth is usually how a mediums reputation is measured. If someone has had a really good sitting with genuine proof of life after death, they will be pleased to pass on a name and number to you. Equally, if your friends have been to see a medium who left a lot to be desired, they will want to warn you against seeing them and perhaps wasting your hard earned cash.

First and foremost, a good reading with a medium should contain information about a loved one of yours in the spirit world.

This information should be enough for you to recognise who it is communicating to you, by stating personal details such as their name, illness with which they passed over or suffered from, and places and memories that are collectively unique to you and them and your relationship with them. You may not receive all of the above, but there should be enough data for you to recognise who the loved one is.

Secondly, after the loved one has proved to you who they are, they should be able to pass on information to you, via the medium, about current events concerning yourself and about any concerns you have in your current life.

The spirit may give advice about how to handle a particular difficulty you are experiencing, or matters to do with another loved one, on this earth plane,  who may be unwell and in need of healing, or having problems of their own.

Remember, your loved ones like to carry on helping us from the spirit world, just as they did when they were here on Earth.  They will offer advice and generally, if their advice was good when they were here in the material world, then they should still be able to offer good advice from the spirit world.

Sometimes, if you are lucky, the communicator may tell you something that you are not yet aware of, and it may only become clear what they mean, when you have asked questions of those within your family or friends.

This would be proof that there can be no mind reading going on, as it needs the input of an absent third party to fill in the gaps of the message. I like it when this happens.  What better proof that the spirit lives on after the earthly existence is over.

Good searching!
