I have discussed cold readers and cold reading here in this blog earlier, as you will know. I have also talked about the subject a lot of late. Cold readers get me very cross as they deceive the sitter, who is often a person going through grief. Being conned is the last thing they need.

I was more than interested last night, when the episode of The Ghost Whisperer I was watching, included dealings with a cold reader.

It demonstrated just how much damage they can do. The cold reader was telling a family that their missing daughter was alive and well, whilst the Whisperer was seeing the spirit of the ‘very’ dead girl.

Naturally, the Ghost Whisperer won the day and taught the cold reader and the girl’s family a thing or too. Not least of all was how wrong a cold reader gets it and the upset that is ultimately caused.

If you get the opportunity to watch this episode then please do. It is good to see how they work and how it all goes wrong.

In the meantime, I suggest as always, only go to a medium whose name you have been given or one you know you can trust.

Did anyone watch the programme last night on NDEs (near death experiences)? It was on the Sky channel Paranormal. I watched it with interest as it is a subject I am keen on.

There did seem to be a mixture of modern and much older interviews, some going back years; its not a newly communicated phenomena.

There were quite a few who told of the wondeful warm and comforting experience that we have become familiar with. Doctors and scientists were giving factual comment and scientific explanations for NDEs.

People who had this experience were forever changed: they no longer feared death and lived their lives in a different manner because of the NDE.

What surprised me was that there were those whose NDE was a sinister one. One person saw horrible macabre heads and ugly characters, who proceeded to make holes in the person’s body and stick things in. There were images of ghouls and maggots etc. Not nice at all.

The lady who had experienced the above, was someone who had tried to take her own life by shooting herself in the neck. She did however survive the incident.

I wonder, does it have implications for those who take their own lives or was this just a random event? Apparently there are many who have had sinister NDEs.

This begs the question: does the type of experience you have at death (and also the NDE) depend on how you die? I am keen for further investigation into this subject and would welcome any input from my readers.

It is essential, if you are to develop your psychic gifts safely, to find a teacher who is experienced and honest.

There are many out there offering classes and who do not, in my opinion, have the proper credentials. It is essential you choose someone who is an experienced medium and who cares about thier students welfare.

An unexperienced person can do more harm than good to a complete novice and indeed, to someone at any stage of their spiritual development.

Being a psychic or cold reader, or member of a church, is not good enough to teach the development of spiritual gifts. They need more skills for this job.

Meditation should play a huge role in your development, as it is only through meditation that you get to know yourself, your guardian angel and your spirit guide. Therefore, if the circle leader does not offer meditation, I suggest you do not join the classes.

It is just as important to learn how to shut down after a session as it is to open up at the start of it. A group teacher must teach you how to do this. If they do not offer this is can be unsafe for the student.

No one should be walking around with their psychic centres open, picking up information from who knows who. It can make you ill, as what you are doing is picking up all the good and all the negative vibes from the good the bad and the ignorant.

Ask around for the name of someone who has earned respect in this field. Ask lots of people and then contact the named mediums and ask what they offer and what makes them a good tutor of psychic development.

More on this subject will follow soon. If you want to know more, contact me and I will answer your questions.

For all of you who have been sending absent healing to carole to help her overcome cancer, here is an update on her condition.

Carole has been undergoing chemotherapy, which has lead to the loss of her hair. She is in good spirits and tolerating it well. Her family tell me she is being very strong throughout.

Her family wish to thank you all for giving your time and effort in order to send healing to her and them.

I also want to thank you all and ask you to keep up the good work and I will keep you informed as I get information about her. Watch for more posts about Carole Booth.

I first became aware of my interest in the psychic and spiritual subject after my beloved maternal Grandmother passed over to the higher side of life. I missed her so much and simply could not believe I would never see her again.

I had spent most of my childhood with Gram, and we shared the same interests such as knitting and sewing, but also walking through the cemetery on a sunny Sunday afternoon. She talked to me of life and death and the afterlife, although I was unsure where her beliefs sprang from.

With my interest kindled, I asked around for advice on where to do my spiritual searching and questioning long after she had passed over. I had no knowledge to speak of.

My mother told me there was a Psychic Research Centre in town and thought I might get my answers there. So, armed with a bag of sweets and a couple of friends, along I went. I soon became a regular at that centre and took the subject much more seriously than any of my friends did.

More on this subject to follow.

There has been quite a lot of interest in the book review I posted.  It has prompted people to write and tell me about the books they have read or heard about, which help to prove life after death.

It seems there are doctors who now believe in a consciousness that survives the death of the human body. These doctors are so sure about this eternal consciousness that they are writing about their experiences to give proof to others.

Many of their experiences could not have happened without this consciousness. Most of the experiences involve their patients, who have had near death experiences, and others are about patients who have happenings before they pass over.

The patients tell doctors and nurses things that can have no other explanation than for the consciousness to have an external existence, outside the human body.

It is all fascinating and I am asking all my readers to send in any information you have on this subject along with any book titles which you feel will help shed light on this subject.

You can reach me in the usual way, via this blog email. Thankyou to all who are getting involved.

Kind Regards Barbara
