We are off on our trip to Canada early tomorrow morning. It is a long trip but worth it as it is a truly beautiful country. We always meet such lovely people whilst we are there and are forever surprised by the wonder of it all.

Last year our favourite part of the trip was a Whale Watching journey along the Gulf Islands. We saw plenty of whales and gazed in awe at the beautiful scenery around them.

I had a particularly spiritual event up in the mountains at Squamish, near Whistler, the year my sister Hazel passed over to the Spirit World.  She passed over unexpectedly whilst we were over in Vancouver and we did not get to say goodbye.

There was an old English country garden at one end of the street and for a moment, her favourite bird swoop down and posed for me whilst I took a photo. In another instant it was gone and we didn’t see another all the trip.

I stepped into a store and there was a cd playing. The song was ‘No Matter What’. A song which we sing in our Spiritual church back home and one with lots of meaning for me.

We went into another of my favourite stores, named Tickleberries, on our way to the Okanhagan Valley. It is quite a big store and I always spend a long time in there. I can never make up my mind what to buy. They make their own biscuits, candy and ice cream, so such much choice.

The minute I stepped into the store Elvis started to play and I remarked to my hubby that Hazel would be happy to hear it. There followed an entire Elvis Presley album. I sang and hummed along as I looked around the store. I am sure my sister was telling me she was there.

As we left the store with lots of goodie bags, the Elvis album came to an end. It was just as if she had arranged it all herself. All her old favourites were on there. I will always remember these special things and look forward to amny others on this trip.

I will keep you all posted.

crystal ball – noun  a solid globe of glass or rock crystal, used for crystal-gazing. Oxford English Dictionary

Crystal balls seem to conjure up the image of a fortune teller, complete with headscarf and dangly earings, in the minds of most people.  Ask anyone you know and I suspect that is what they will say.  Fairgrounds and gypsies spring to the mind too. Gypsies I understand are particularly good with the crytal.

I have known psychics who have used the crystal in the past, but most of the modern day mediums do not. It seems to be a lost art. Although to my understanding, no images are actually seen inside the crystal ball.

Like most tools employed by psychics in their quest of other worldy information, they are used as focul points to help the reader concentrate on the subject. It is not cheating or anything like that. It is merely a helpful tool.

The psychic will gaze into the ball and ask in their mind for information. The information will appear in the third eye, which is located in the centre of the brow, and is one of the psychic centres which I discuss in my development books and courses.

It is not a physical or tangible thing. Whilst the reader gazes into the ball it will appear as though the images are actually in there. When in fact it is like viewing images on a screen in your forehead.

I use many such tools as focul points to help my students learn to concentrate on the psychic information which their guides bring to them. It also helps the reader to relax and to ignore what is going on around them.

I personally enjoy using ribbons in a reading. Some think that ribbon reading is just the same as psychometry, but it is not. I will discuss this subject during the coming week.

It is many years since I was invited to my first home circle. I remember it lovingly and cherish all the time we spent developing our psychic gifts together. Several well known mediums started in the same circle.

I met some mediums through my frequent visits to spiritualist churches. They invited me along to sit with them in their weekly home circle. We began at the same time each week and sat for a couple of hours.

The circle would begin with an opening prayer, asking for spirit to draw close to us and for our guides and guardian angels to help teach us. We would then meditate for a while until one of us had a contact with a spirit, who wanted to communicate with us.

We would take it in turns to impart the various communications. The evidence of life after death was the important part we always asked for. We were very hard on ourselves and worked harder to get the proof needed. We never gave trivial things, only the information that was really important. We did not want to waste any valuable time.

My first communication in that circle was one of clairsentience. I kept sensing the smell of a hospital and couldn’t shake it off. I asked my guide to give me more information and she duly obliged by giving me names and further unique items of interest by way of clairvoyance. The recipient of this message had in fact been visitng a loved one in hospital and the names I gave were relatives of the sick person. The rest of the information was directly linked to the person.

I was elated to have made such a good link with the Spirit World and so excited each week when circle night came around. I developed at a really good pace in that circle and have never looked back.

I recommend a home circle to anyone who wants to develop their psychic gifts.  You can start with just a couple of friends and others will be led to your group when the time is right. Spirit have a way of making these things come together.

The main priority when sitting for development is honesty and dedication. Always, in your opening prayer, ask for the highest and only the truth. Ask for the best evidence possible of life after death. At the end of your circle say a closing prayer, thanking spirit for their help and their love.

The end of the evening’s circle can also be used to send out absent healing to all those in need. Close your eyes and send out your love and kind healing thoughts. Thoughts are living things and you will often be surprised by the good results.  It is a great way to give a little back to the spirits who help you develop.

There are lots of different types of healing and healers out there. Doctors, nurses, vets, listeners, to name but a few! It would take up a lot of space to list all that I can think of, let alone the ones I can find on the Internet. There is one thing that I believe healers have in common, and that is COMPASSION.

You can have lots of qualifications and certificates or diplomas, but in my humble opinion they are useless withought compassion.

Many people are under the misapprehension that spiritual healers are faith healers.  They are not. You do not have to have faith in order to be healed or to give healing. One thing that spiritualism does not ask you to do, is to take anything on faith.  The Spiritualist religion is founded on ‘proving all things’.

Sometimes, regardless of healing and treatment, a child has a miraculous recovery from a serious illness.  They didn’t have faith that they would be healed. They did not understand, because they were too young.

The same thing is true of animals. An animal cannot have a faith to believe in, to ensure their recovery from illness. Sure, they trust the vet or his nurse, but isn’t that because they can sense their compassion. Animals don’t have the type of brain that allows them a faith, as in the religious sense.

I am not saying that to have a faith is wrong. By all means have faith in whatever you believe. There are many good healers who are involved in faiths of all types and faith does not prevent healing.

Compassion though, is what is needed not faith, for healing to work.  If we all had more compassion and shared it with others more often, then the world would be a happier and healthier place.

I am interested in the views of others as usual and look forward to receiving your comments.

Here’s to all the compassionate folk out there who give their all to make others feel better. May they forever be granted good health.

Psychometrythe supposed ability to discover facts about an event or person from inanimate objects associated with them. Oxford English Dictionary.

Not to be confused with psychometric testing, which some companies use in their recruitment process.

Many psychics and mediums use this method of divination, especially when giving a private reading.  It is often a very interesting way to glean information, but it does have its drawbacks.  If the item belonged to someone else originally you may find their vibrations are still on it. This could lead to a lot of  negative responses from the sitter.

The psychic or medium takes hold of an item, preferably one which only its owner has held.  The medium then tunes in their sixth sense to the vibrations on the item. This may sound weird and spooky but it is very simple and straight forward.

Every object holds vibrations and all the vibrations give off energy which is full of information.  The information gleaned can be about the owner of the item or about the history of the piece or, an amalgamation of both.

It is sometimes used whilst the medium adjusts to the person for whom they are giving the reading. Especially if they are giving several readings in succession.

Flowers or foliage are often used for this purpose. It is always best when giving a flower reading to ask that the sitter picks the flower themselves and lets no one else touch it.  The flower will then only hold the vibrations of the owner.

A really good reading using psychometry would begin with the reading of vibrations from an object or flower and continue into a a mediumistic reading when the medium has settled down and tuned into the spirits.

Flower services are sometimes held at churches but not on sunday when it is a Divine service.

A message from a medium should always include proof of life after death. This is the essence of mediumship; without such proof a medium’s message is worthless.

When I have listened to some psychics at Spiritualist churches, I have been angered by the downright lack of evidence. It is as though they think they are on the platform to give entertainment, and that is not the point at all.  If we need a good laugh we go to the theatre or the cinema, not church. We go to Spiritualist churches for proof.

I cringe when I hear the speaker say ‘You have been a bit down lately.’ What does that mean exactly? You could say that to almost anyone at any time and it would probably be true.  There are lots of times for most of us when we are a bit down.  Then there is ‘You have had a lot of bills to pay,’ or ‘You know someone who is not very well’! All these statements are meaningless unless they come with some evidence from the Spirit World.

There are also quite a few mediums who frequent the platforms and halls in my area who can often be heard saying ’Someone here knows of someone who died in a motor bike accident.’ This seems quite dramatic at the time, but what are the odds of at least one person in any hall, at any given time, knowing of someone who did?

There is also one medium who, when they get a bit bored with the proceedings, will suddenly say, ‘Someone has just had a bill to pay for about £140 or £400 or something like that’.  For sure, someone in the room will put up their hand and say they just had a bill which could just about fit those figures.

Please use your intelligence and listen to the content of messages to help you sort the wheat from the chaff. If dramatics is what you want, then fair enough. If you are looking for proof that your loved ones are still around and watching over you, then be more discerning. Listen for the evidence that can only be from your own loved ones.

I will publish more posts on this subject during the coming week.

I gave a private reading to a lady in BC Canada, and she kindly gave me permission to relate part of it to my readers and other seekers of truth.

Her son Trevor, had been killed in a road accident and I gave her lots of information during the reading about the event. In fact I knew nothing of the event until that reading.

I told her Trevor, showed me 2 different ambulances at the scene of the car crash and that one went one way to a hospital and the other went in the opposite direction to a different hospital. One contained Trevor and the other his wife, Ximi.

I saw the rescue team get a lady out of one door, her face being covered in glass, but they could not open the drivers door and the car had burst into flames. I saw them trying to get him out and eventually they did get him out and took him to a specialist unit. He showed me the things that happened whilst he was in the emergency room and I related them to his Mother, to her amazement.

He told me that he died from head injuries and mercifully did not feel the pain of fire as he was unconcious.  This to the relief of his Mum.

He described a lady in the Spirit World who was now looking after him. The description and details of passing fitted his maternal grand mother. This pleased his mum, who wanted to know he was not alone. She also wanted to know if he was still around herself as she thought she had become aware of him.

Trevor told me that the day before our reading, he had been watching his Mother, in her home, and she was kicking, cussing and crying at her vacuum cleaner. This made his mum both laugh and cry. She said she never, ever, vacuumed, as she had a cleaner who did it all.  Except, the day prior to the reading.  After the char lady had gone home, there was a bit of an accident and she had broken an item, causing a mess. So, unlike her, she got out the vacuum cleaner to clear the mess but could not get it to work.

She told me the tale of how she kicked and cussed at the vacuum and ended up in tears of frustration. This was obviously when her son Trevor had been there watching her. She was so pleased he could tell her about the past events, and then to prove to her he was still around by relating the recent event was a great bonus for her.

There were lots of little things unique to Trevor and his Mum, which he mentioned during the reading. It was a good mixture of past and present, but he also gave her information about things she did not know. This perhaps proved to her it could not have been some sort of mind reading.

Trevor said to tell his wife, Ximi, about the dreamcatcher, and we both thought he meant an American Indian dream catcher charm. He said his watch was in the glove box and his mum knew nothing of this. Trevor wanted this to prove it to Ximi too.

Later, she contacted her son’s widow, who had by then moved out of the country. Ximi told his mum that after the crash and her subsequent discharge from hospital, she had gone to the pound to collect the personal items from the crashed car. They gave her a couple of things which had included Trevor’s watch. They told her they found it in the glove box. It had been a gift from his wife.

When asked about the Dreamcatcher, Ximi said: It was in fact Trevor’s favourite Stephen King novel, and they had been together to see the film of the same story, just prior to the car crash. The crash had happened when they were newly weds.

Both Mother and Daughter in Law found great comfort in the proof of life after death that Trevor had given them.  Many things have happened along their journey since then, which reinforces their belief that they will all be together agin one day.

There are many times when I am feeling low or unhappy, that I find it comforting to feel the presence of a spirit loved one.

It may be just a brush against my cheek or a tickling of my hair, but it is enough to bring a smile to my face and a warmth in my heart.  I feel at peace, and I know which loved ones they are by the way they make themselves felt.

A particular loved one strokes my cheek and another caresses my brow.  It is not the same sensation as a human touch, more of a sense of it.  It is enough though, when you have learned to tune in to your sixth sense.

Too often we get bogged down with day to day trivia and become depressed by life’s problems.  We are not always aware that spirit have moved in close to comfort us.  The feelings we have often swamp us and make it impossible for others to get close. When you are truly sad, that is when they come the closest, but it can also be the time when we use our senses the least.

Persevere and you will be rewarded. When you feel most alone, that is when you are most guarded and guided. You can be confident that your Guardian Angel will be there to comfort and guide you.

When you feel a presence ask who it is (in your head). You may not get an answer there and then, but you will find out who it is if you are patient. You can try a system of illimination.  I am happy to give advice and I will keep coming back to this topic to help move you forward.

Mediums often like to give an air of mystery when they work. At least that is my experience of some platform speakers.  They make statements which, to the uninitiated, sound like they are from another world. They talk of vibrations and etherics, auras and ectoplasm. To mention but a few. My spooky glossary will help you with some.  Others, will be on my next list.

It also seems that what part of the world or indeed, what part of the country they are from, determines how mediums put their message across on the platform.

In the north of England, platform mediums usually start their message by saying ‘Can I come to you please’, being quite direct. They may point at a person or refer to the person in the red/blue coat, or the person at the back with specs on.  They may sometimes say that they think they are with that particular person, but may just be very close to the right person, but they are usually not far off.

In the south of England and in my experience, London, platform mediums usually throw out the message to the whole audience, to begin with.  They will say they have a link with a certain spirit who is asking for his wife/daughter or that he gives a name. This person may have passed with heart trouble etc. There will be a few more items thrown out until they have narrowed the field down to one person.  After which the rest of the message will be directed at them.

You will find at most churches and halls, there will be a certain few people who believe that every message thrown out is for themselves. They are so intent on getting a message that they will speak up regardless, whereas there are always those few who want it so much, but are afraid to speak up.

When you go to such meetings, listen with intent at the items thrown out by the medium. If you feel sure that you can accept almost all the items, speak up. It is not always possible to place every item. The best piece of evidence is often the bit you have to go home and find out about later.

During the meeetings, relax and send your love out to the Spirit World.  Don’t dwell on one person, you may shut out another. Enjoy the event and who knows where it may lead you.

Small steps are the best way to learn to use your gifts and come to an understanding of how it all works.

Be gentle with yourself, or as an old spiritual teacher once said to me, ‘Give yourself permission to be nice to yourself’!

Do not expect too much and you will not then be disappointed or discouraged.  Give yourself time to grieve the passing of your loved ones in the normal everyday sense.  Get help when you need it and let friends and family be there for you.

When you feel you are ready to begin your journey of discovery and are keen to begin your development, that is when I can help you most.

I look forward to hearing from you.  You can contact me either through my web site:  www.BarbaraBiggin.com  or through this blog.
